Do you raid the patient fridge?

Time to 'fess up ladies and gents. :clown: Who here raids the patient fridge, and if so, what is your fav? Are you guilty of jello diversion? Or, is cookie addiction your weakness? Do you limit yourself to graham crackers and milk or do you go for the hard stuff?

This is an anonymous online forum, time to spill yer guts...

As for me, I used to be a weakling for jello. I like red jello, but my favorite is orange. I'm now in recovery from that addiction.

Now I'll have an occasional mini box of wheaties, and an occasional cookie if they aren't too soft. Graham crackers and milk make a quick snack when my blood sugar gets a little low from skipping a meal.

When I worked nights at my former job I was thinking of assembling a small recipe book from patient fridge items. One of my staples then was a microwave grilled cheese sandwich.

Its always a happy day when I see butterscotch pudding in the fridge!!!

If my unit doesnt have Diet Pepsi you can rest assured I will be visiting other departments~~

I have also learned that those little 4oz vanilla ice cream cups smashed between two graham crackers make one fine desert!!

One night we had been busy and missed the canteen which only opened midnight till 2am. None of us had any food and we were starving so we had ice cream on toast:barf01:which was better than nothing.

I rarely eat the food there, but don't feel bad about grabbing the occasional can of soda.

Guilty....usually just graham cracker and PB. But one one occasion at my old hospital I forgot my food for the potluck so I made a lil "cream pie" Graham cracker crust with Choc and van. pudding all in a nice (brand new) bedpan!! LOL!!! People actually ate it....

And...when I was locked in for the hurricane I did my part by making sure the blue bell in the patient fridge did not have to be thrown away...it was melting....

Our "pt fridge" is also our fridge so half the time its the pt's who steal from us!!

But I'll only take something if its up for dibs, as in it doesn't belong to anyone and its just going to go in the trash. With that said I'm not a big fan of jelly and yogurts. I'm more of a mashed potatoe (powder) RN. But I do get into the moo-juice unless some schmuck has left it on the bench for two days. Advice - sniff first.

Although, we've been robbed on our ward, people have been coming up and cleaning us out, liek taking all our milk and tea and coffee - even the containers!

I like the cranberry juice.

Forty years ago they used to have this stuff called junket. I am not even sure of the spelling. It was sort of a custard but lighter. Haven't seen it in a long time, loved it.

in the ICU I would love the applesauces! We didn't have much else since so few people ate on our unit, but I would always grab two of those for lunch and life would be good! :D
