Do you raid the patient fridge?

Time to 'fess up ladies and gents. :clown: Who here raids the patient fridge, and if so, what is your fav? Are you guilty of jello diversion? Or, is cookie addiction your weakness? Do you limit yourself to graham crackers and milk or do you go for the hard stuff?

This is an anonymous online forum, time to spill yer guts...

As for me, I used to be a weakling for jello. I like red jello, but my favorite is orange. I'm now in recovery from that addiction.

Now I'll have an occasional mini box of wheaties, and an occasional cookie if they aren't too soft. Graham crackers and milk make a quick snack when my blood sugar gets a little low from skipping a meal.

When I worked nights at my former job I was thinking of assembling a small recipe book from patient fridge items. One of my staples then was a microwave grilled cheese sandwich.

Apple juice! And also the graham crackers on occasion, and milk.

If I don't have a drink for my lunch, I snag a 7-Up. Nothing like a snack to help pick up the day!

We also like it when the kitchen brings a meal tray for a patient that has been discharged... or they accidentally bring two trays for the same patient.

Either way, we all eat those trays. They are only going to be thrown out.

If you are lucky, it will be pot roast, potatoes, beef barley soup and chocolate cake... not too shabby.

If you are UNlucky, it will be a cheap, frozen dinner-like burrito with plastic (I swear it's plastic!!) cheese and plastic rice. It is served with "enchilada" soup.

This is all gross, but we almost always have many of these trays to "take" because the patients can't stand it either and will refuse it.

I guess they should call it, "Indigestion Indelight" on the menu.

Oh, and... YEAH Lorne Doone and Fig Newtons!

But it's still the chocolate milk that is my weakness:up:

I used to eat a package of graham crackers when I was on an adult unit as a student extern. Sometimes I just didn't have time to go to the breakroom and eat because I was so busy, but my glucose plummets if I don't pop something in my mouth every few hours.

Now if I raided the fridge..all I'd find is breastmilk. No thanks!
