Do you raid the patient fridge?

Time to 'fess up ladies and gents. :clown: Who here raids the patient fridge, and if so, what is your fav? Are you guilty of jello diversion? Or, is cookie addiction your weakness? Do you limit yourself to graham crackers and milk or do you go for the hard stuff?

This is an anonymous online forum, time to spill yer guts...

As for me, I used to be a weakling for jello. I like red jello, but my favorite is orange. I'm now in recovery from that addiction.

Now I'll have an occasional mini box of wheaties, and an occasional cookie if they aren't too soft. Graham crackers and milk make a quick snack when my blood sugar gets a little low from skipping a meal.

When I worked nights at my former job I was thinking of assembling a small recipe book from patient fridge items. One of my staples then was a microwave grilled cheese sandwich.

The chocolate pudding isn't too bad.

On the floor I work now the kitchen is very well stocked. I love to "borrow" a bottle of water and a Crystal Light drink packet.

No. Aside from the fact that I know that food is meant for patients, I am kind of grossed out by all of it. I won't even eat Jello at home now. And the heated trays smell like dog food to me. I can't bear to be in the break room if another nurse is eating a heated patient dinner. However, I will occasionally grab a carton of milk from the patient fridge to use in my coffee when my half-and-half carton gets used up mysteriously in two days.

I'm the same way about Jello now.......reminds me too much of being in the hospital, both as a nurse and as a patient.

The lemon pudding, on the other hand, isn't half bad.:D

Its always a happy day when I see butterscotch pudding in the fridge!!!

If my unit doesnt have Diet Pepsi you can rest assured I will be visiting other departments~~

I have also learned that those little 4oz vanilla ice cream cups smashed between two graham crackers make one fine desert!!

Graham crackers with cream cheese is pretty good, too.

I'm a fan of the rainbow sherbet.

Juice. OJ, Apple and Cranberry!

Ooohhh, Diet Pepsi racing-mom-4? I am so jealous.

I usually grab a Rice Krispie Treat and a few cheese crackers to get me through. Along with a glass of cranbery juice or lemonade it's a pretty good time! LOL!

Coke floats. Peanut butter and graham crackers.

But only when I haven't eaten, or have forgotten to bring anything.

never, anything hospital related grosses me out. the jello, the pudding, all of it.. makes me nauseous just thinking about it. i won't even drink the water from the patient water machine, i'd rather be dehydrated

One night we had been busy and missed the canteen which only opened midnight till 2am. None of us had any food and we were starving so we had ice cream on toast:barf01:which was better than nothing.
