My trusty thermometer has fizzled out and I need to find a replacement. Unfortunately, the one I use now is a discontinued item, so I have to start fresh. What do you use or what do you wish you had to use?

I use a VeraTemp IR thermometer and have been very happy with it. It is very quick and easy and doesn't seem to scare the little ones.

Thermofocus 1500

I just got this at my school this year and it's fantastic! It's very quick and doesn't touch the student's skin, so you don't have to clean it after each use.

I just got this at my school this year and it's fantastic! It's very quick and doesn't touch the student's skin, so you don't have to clean it after each use.

I have one similar to this, and I do agree it is great for a quick temp check and not having to clean or buy covers for it. Only drawback is its not very accurate if the student has heavy bangs that cover their foreheads, it makes their skin to hot. Otherwise its great.

This is what I use. I've tried the laser forehead ones, tympanic ones, and temporal ones and they are all inconsistent, so I stick with the oral thermometer; with some exceptions for gag reflex, immaturity, etc.

I just ordered the combo pack Thermo Scan and Sure Temp- Welch Allyn!

I got a Sure Temp this school year and have not found it to be accurate. I get very inconsistent readings so I went back to my trusty Thermoscan which is quite old.....but hoping to order the newer model for next year :yes:

I swear the vast majority of my students had no idea that you could take a temperature orally. When I first started here I had no idea where anything was kept and could only find oral thermometers. I used them for the first several weeks and every kid gave me a weird look when I told them to put it under their tongues! Seriously, maybe one actually knew how/where to keep it without my explaining.
