Infrared Thermometers

Published

First off...I'm aware these aren't as accurate as tympanic or oral thermometers, but I need to ask. Does anyone have an infrared thermometer they've used that they can recommend?

I think we discussed this before (and you can try a search in the search bar). I have never been happy with any of them. But you may get data on who is happy and with which product.

I can't remember who among us said it: "I trust that thing less than I trust the back of my hand."

Could have been me who said that! But I just checked--it was the very wise@OldDude Nonetheless I've been told they must be purchased.

I have some by Zoe+Ruth. If anything, they understate the temp. I do several scans to make sure I'm actually getting the hot spot around the temple. Better than trying to get the littles to use an oral thermometer effectively.

Out of stock on Amazon, but I think I've seen them at CVS.

The one I use is a Mobi I found that this is pretty accurate considering that it is infrared.

I had to replace mine since the ones that were in the clinic were from the stone age and didn't work. Limited budget and non- contact that was the best bang for my little bucks.

I have a vera-temp. I don't know if they kae it anymore, but it seems to work well for screening the malingerers who MUST know their temp.

I have a Preve brand one, I think it was like $30 on Amazon and I don't hate it. It's fairly accurate. I did a few comparisons when I first bought it and it was generally within 0.2 of the tympanic.

Oh well. Guess the 5 I have here will have to do. Let's hope no one breaks them.
