Why hasn’t pay increased? Hazard pay, etc.? Especially considering that multiple hospitals lack supplies for PPE and we are frontline workers.

I do. It varies greatly by shop. Hence why sweeping statements are almost never true. Maybe in your shop it’s like this but most it is not. But if it is like this where you are now you do have a right to be somewhat Bitter.

Nope, it really doesn't. It doesn't vary at all. CRNAs do the intubations where there is an MDA/CRNA "team", every...single...time. You have no clue. And I'm not bitter about it. I would rather keep my skills up and leave the paperwork to them.

Not at some hospitals in my neck of the woods. I’m not going to say how your shop is run but mine is not like that. MDA do all the inductions intubations CRNA monitor during low risk procedures. Some of the outlying hospitals are different.

That's the stupidest *** I've ever heard. No CRNA "monitors" during low risk procedures.

Well to add icing on the cake med students, interns, and CA residents do most of the critical airway work here. Crna usually in outpatient surgical centers where I am. Not arguing whether this is right or wrong just how it is here. Sorry if you do not like it. You can always go back to med school to rectify the situation. ? Sorry you seem angry.

Thank you! My thoughts exactly! Yes, every Dr. I've worked with is making way over $100/hr plus they are paid per patient, plus they make an after 5:00 p.m. bonus that's higher than my hourly salary! Let's pay our PAs and NPs more too for doing the same jobs as our MDs for 1/3 the salary!

This is not selfish. I am a veteran, was deployed to the Middl East where I received hazardous duty pay. Coronavirus is very similar to war conditions. Healthcare workers are putting their lives on the line, unlike the rest of society. They deserve more pay right now. Nursing is a job. Nurses should not be martyrs.

Thank you for your service. I understand completely what your saying. Nursing is a job...which we are exchanged our services for labor. We nurses get it misconstrued of our purpose in this healthcare system, and until we tighten up our nursing values and profession as a unit, we are going to continue to get what we get.

I understand nursing is a calling...so is military, police, fire, teaching...all unselfish, altruistic...jobs...

Military service is similar in structure, I am not sure why folk are dismissing you as such. Rankings, job levels, similar to nursing field. However, the Military, Fireman, and Police, and Teachers are also unionized...and valued on individual levels for their importance of job duties...and recognized at all levels of service with value and honor of your fellow servicemen...

Nursing...we have a long way to go...and deserve better from within

It's because nursing is dominated by women. The administration takes advantage of the fact that we are a profession of bleeding hearts and martyrs. If we ask for more pay, we are ridiculed. If a man were to ask for more pay in this situation it would be expected. I'll bet a million dollars the hospital CEOs in this country are not lowering their own annual salaries or sacrificing their bonuses! Shame on you all criticizing gcupid for asking this question!

The airlines and Tax-Exempt-Cruise Ships that brought this virus here asked for $$$$$....And received...

Healthcare is asking for $$$/Critical Equipment/Basic PPE to fight this international virus that was brought over by same vessels/carriers....and get denied, told wash your mask, keep your disposable gloves, wear whatever mask Pintrest made for you to work, and wait in line for your $1000 with the rest of you peons....

We love Nurses Week Cups!...when is it again...

I agree with this as the primary reason above all other reasons. Lets see how this all plays out

Posted in another thread, but does fit in here as well. Let's keep it to talking about hazard pay and not physician vs nurse. Thank you!

Just for the record, I was not trying to make it about doc vs nurse. But I do find someone who is not currently a nurse, and not doing direct patient care telling those of us on the front line what we can or should do highly offensive
