I live in Chicago and have visited almost every part of Florida, I am actually going to be visiting Ft.Lauderdale at the end on January. I ask anyone here that has ever lived in Florida and they have nothing but terrible things to say. They tell me the schools and education systems are bad and that the majority of the population have low Iq's and are poor. I don't know why this is, everyone seemed pretty normal to me?? I would like to move there one day and start a new life with my husband but I'm worried about salary and job placement for both himself and I. Why are some peoples experiences so bad, its so beautiful and the people are very nice. I just don't get it. Can someone help me understand why this is??
Cedar Key is over on the Gulf and readily sees plenty of G-ville Gators. It is a sleepy place where fresh seafood fans get there fix.
Itcheetucknee is up near High Springs, I believe. They are some clear water springs, that people go tubing down,. The water is crystal clear, and you see plenty of water flora and fauna in the water and in the woods on both sides. An occasional gator or two - just lift your derriere out of the water, if you are in an inner tube, the raft of choice. More likely fish and turtles, occasional waterfowl.
come to think about it............. i love florida!!
i have nice warm weather all year round! i have movies, shopping, restaurants, hospitals, hotels, parks--- all within a short drive. i have the beach only a 20 minute drive.
looking at other states where you have snow storms.... no way!!
i wish i got paid a little more for living expenses-- but i really love it here!!
I am loving Florida this time of year! Fantastic weather. But the days are shorter in winter. In the summer I can't wait until the scorching sun goes down! When it is 90 degrees in the shade and 100% humidity I absolutely hate Florida. I pretty much hate Florida from June thru October. In 2009 it was 90 degrees in October on many days. The humidty is oppressive and never-ending. You alwas feel wet and sticky. I'm an outdoors kinda gal and I like my outdoor activities in moderate weather. But I will admit, this has been a nice winter, a nice change of pace.
It sure has been cold here in Gainesville. Before I moved here in Oct 2009, I had gotten rid of most of my "winter clothing." I had figured I would be warm all the time here in Florida and wouldn't need it. Big mistake. Thank Goodness, I kept a few of my warm things. I love Florida. I love alligators. I love big bugs too.
I've lived in the Tampa area for 16 years, this is the coldest winter ever. We're all sick of it, can't wait for the temp to get above 70 and the sun to come out.
I live in the Bay too. It's so freakin cold. I've lived here for 6 yrs. I cant wait to shread my coat.. Main reason I left up north.. no coats..
I cant wait for the jobs to come back to Florida too.. Still loving it in Florida.. Just not the cold:uhoh3:

Thanks:redbeathe. Are those places located near Gainesville? I haven't heard of them. Do they have more alligators than the La Chua trail?
