Why Does Everyone Hate Florida So Much??

U.S.A. Florida

Published

I live in Chicago and have visited almost every part of Florida, I am actually going to be visiting Ft.Lauderdale at the end on January. I ask anyone here that has ever lived in Florida and they have nothing but terrible things to say. They tell me the schools and education systems are bad and that the majority of the population have low Iq's and are poor. I don't know why this is, everyone seemed pretty normal to me?? I would like to move there one day and start a new life with my husband but I'm worried about salary and job placement for both himself and I. Why are some peoples experiences so bad, its so beautiful and the people are very nice. I just don't get it. Can someone help me understand why this is??

I am moving to Riverview! My husband is already there starting a new job tomorrow morning. I am still in TN working and waiting for my FL license by endorsement. This is the hardest thing I've ever done, being here when he's there. He said it was 83 today. TN has seen tons of snow this winter. I hope the BON hurries up with my license then I am gone! I am wondering how hard it will be to find a job with 8 months ER experience. I am told by many of the locals that I will not have any trouble finding work there. I am excited and can't wait to join the mix. My house and husband are waiting.

Welcome to Florida!!!!:yeah: I have no idea where Riverview is so I'm no help. Hopefully, someone else here will know. I just got here in Oct 2009 and I love it!!!!!! I live in Gainesville. I just now got hired to do private duty home care.

I hope you will be able to find work soon. Best of luck.;)

I can't believe its going under 40 again Friday night here in Tampa Bay. WTH!!

Thanks to the freeze in January I've lost most of the plants in my yard. The nurseries will be making lots of money in the spring when people start replanting.

As I've been cleaning up the debris from the freeze I've found lots of dead lizards and frogs. My little dog has been feasting on them....ewww

I grew up in Jacksonville Beach Florida. Lived there until I married at age 30 Loved it would go back in a heartbeat. I live in Midwest now and 20 years ago when I came here I took a 6 dollar per hour cut in pay and had to start paying state income tax. My Standard of Living was much better there. Jacksonville, Gainesville, Tallahassee, Miami, all have great access to the arts!:clown:

Just moved here in Jan and I have 4 jobs already. One in a big hospital, one with an agency and 2 with LTCF. The pay is definitely lower except with the agency. Am loving it already.

Just curious is this a nursing thread, quite a few of these messages havent even mentioned the word nursing,, just wondering for a minute I thought maybe I had been directed to another board and not realized it.

Why exactly do the messages have to specifically mention nursing? Everyone on the board is either a nurse, a student nurse, someone starting out with their beginning classes or someone maybe thinking about nursing, so that in and of it self relates to nursing and therefore makes it relevant. Besides, if it were a REAL problem, the admins would have addressed it. :)

Another reason to love Florida, We have a roaming monkey in the Tampabay area.. lol..

I hate it because it makes my hair go frizzy. I call it the bad hair state.

And the monkey has 2 fan pages on FaceBook ;)

Why they're wasting tax dollars trying to catch a monkey that hasn't harmed anyone is beyond me.

Did you hear about the otter that attacked an old man today?

Its not just gators you have to be wary of in Florida.

Well I made the move! My license was in almost 2 wks ago, and I am here! I love it as much, if not more, than everyone said! The weather, people and food are all amazing, and I think I have a baby alligator in the retention pond behind my house! I look for him everyday. I said I would start looking for a job on Monday, but actually filled out 3 online applications on Friday. So far I've been turned down once, heard from 1 recruiter who said she would forward my app on, and then haven't heard anything on the third. I am trying not to get nervous. I know bigger cities have more people and the job market is more competitive. I am wondering though, I am an ER RN with 9 months nursing experience, all in the ER. Will I be considered a new grad? I have most all my accreditations except for TNCC and PALS. Most places will give you so many months to get those. I am hoping I can get into an ER and not have to do Home Health. No offense to anyone, but I just don't think it would be for me. I like to have a quick turnover of pts, not get too attached, and also love the adrenaline I find in the ER. I will do whatever I have to in order to stay here, even if it is HH...
