Why Does Everyone Hate Florida So Much??

U.S.A. Florida

Published

I live in Chicago and have visited almost every part of Florida, I am actually going to be visiting Ft.Lauderdale at the end on January. I ask anyone here that has ever lived in Florida and they have nothing but terrible things to say. They tell me the schools and education systems are bad and that the majority of the population have low Iq's and are poor. I don't know why this is, everyone seemed pretty normal to me?? I would like to move there one day and start a new life with my husband but I'm worried about salary and job placement for both himself and I. Why are some peoples experiences so bad, its so beautiful and the people are very nice. I just don't get it. Can someone help me understand why this is??

Congratulations on making your move to Florida.:yeah: I am thinking that if you have 9 months experience that you would not be considered a new grad. I wish you the best of luck in finding a job soon. Don't get too close to that baby alligator. I remember getting too close to baby alligators. Apparently, it alarmed his mother and she came out of "nowhere" swimming very quickly towards me. I freaked out and ran for my life.:lol2:

TYTYTY! Proud to say that I did find a job! I accepted a position with HCA. Everyone talks about the horrible pay, but it is $4.10 more/hr than where I just left so I am pretty dang excited :D... Haven't spotted the alligator in a while, they are elusive in the day, and I'm too chicken to go out there hunting at night! Guess we'll just keep a safe distance from each other.

Congrats! which HCA hospital?

And the monkey has 2 fan pages on FaceBook ;)

Why they're wasting tax dollars trying to catch a monkey that hasn't harmed anyone is beyond me.

Did you hear about the otter that attacked an old man today?

Gator mating season is coming up, they're gonna be on the move and found in somebody's kitchen. LOL that happened a few years ago in Oldsmar (north Tampa Bay) http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,352098,00.html

:eek:I sure wouldn't want to find a gator in my kitchen. My favorite alligator story is on you tube. It's called crocodile attack drunk fat man. It is hilarious!!!!!:lol2:

Thx! Brandon Regional....

I was born and raised in Alaska and have been here in Florida now for 6 years. As far as education goes, my mother is a teacher and she told me that FL ranks 50th in education costs, meaning we are the least-funded. Nurses do get paid much less than up north. LPNs up north get paid what the RNs do here. I make 20 an hour working evenings as an LPN, with no holiday or OT pay. Not to mention the healthcare laws here, and what skills CNAs and LPNs are limited to utilize. I have only been a nurse here, so I can't compare it with anything more than hear-say, but to me, between the low pay, the high humidity, and the church-based poitical system, I am starting to regret settling down here. Like someone said above, the florida lifestyle gets old real fast, especially for the young or middle-aged adults.

You never know how good florida is until you move away from it. I'm from florida born and raised I have been to many states and none of them will ever compare to the benefits I get from living in florida. I'm in north carolina right now and I can't wait to get back. This place is horrible.

And for me it is the opposite.

I am a Florida native and moved North and never want to go back to Florida. I find the work conditions in Florida totally abysmal.

To each his or her own, I guess -- I was born and raised in FL, left the first chance I got and have never even considered returning there. It's bad enough I have to go back to visit my mother and sister! I've been living happily in NC nearly all of my adult life and love it here -- I have moved temporarily to a couple other states over the years for various reasons and rushed back here as soon as I got the chance each time.

Ah, the Sunshine State -- bad schools, bad employment conditions, bad economy, bad politics, bad weather; what's not to love????
