Who's still waiting on "THE LETTER"

Okay, it's getting down to crunch time!!! I am starting to *think* plan B. I still have to wait until the first part of May before I get any news. If I don't get in, I will need to bust my rear to get more pre req's in this summer for another program starting in Jan'07...

Who else is still waiting for fall 06...and do you have a plan B????

huh? i'm describing how i got my associates in nursing. there is an alternate path. excelsior is an assessment based, nontraditional program. you have to be a paramedic or an lpn to get into the program. it's a great way to avoid the wait for a slot in a traditional nursing school. become a paramedic or lpn first, and go through excelsior.

it pays to think outside the box.

i am a student at a community college. i have all of my support classes for the adn program done and i have to wait until the end of july or the beginning of august for my letter. i am about to make myself sick. i have gained about 15-20 pounds over the last few months. my stomach is always in knots and i am about to drive my husband crazy. my gpa for the program is a 2.8 and the lowest gpa that got in last semester was a 2.7. the adn director says that i have a really good shot at getting in the fall of 06. the program has about 250 applicants and is accepting 40.

i completely understand how you feel and have a 3.0 gpa & wait time i'm in the same boat as you however, we have alot more spots open than you do. so hopefully that ups the odds for me. i emailed one of the administrators to find out when the letters are going out, get this, ....keep in mind our fall semester begins august 22. they believe the letters will go out at the end of july, we will somehow squeeze in orientation, that is when we will pick our classes/clinical sites and then only then, i'll know if i got in. this is absolutely ridiculous. they have a new database at my school to organize this, you'd think that they would have inputted the information as the applications trickled in, but no, they waited till the due date (may 15th) to start doing that. it's officially been 10 days since the due date for applications, what concerns me, is financial aide and scholarships figure out their stuff before we even know if we are in, how does that affect those who get awards but then don't get in....where does that money go? anyhow, this whole process and waiting is frustrating as he**. but, i guess it is out of my control. i don't know how some people on this site have done it waiting longer than the 2 months we have to wait. i guess when you envision your future and think possibly nursing isn't there, you question everything. stay focused, spend time with the family and lets enjoy this freedom we have...we won't have it for the next 2 years of our lives.

The school I go to sent their letters out at the end of March. I received mine and it stated that I had been placed on the waitlist. I was number 4 on the waitlist. On Tuesday of this week I received a phone call stating I am in the ADN program and will start June 28th. I am so excited. I graduated from LPN school this last December and then I took classes to finish my prereqs for ADN. I will graduate in May of 07. I had already been thinking of plan B and was going to take classes for another program at another community college.

On Wednesday I went and registered for school and dropped those other classes. The school I attend only takes 24 students and they had over 80 applicants. My GPA is 3.41. I feel very fortunate that I found out this early because I was told they have up until the week that school starts to decline.

I just checked my online information for BU and it says that I was admitted to the nursing program!!!

MAY 23/06 -- ADMITTED TO THE SCHOOL OF HEALTH STUDIES, BACHELOR OF NURSING 4-YR. DEGREE

And here I was waiting for a stinking letter! (which will still come and then I can call to make a date for my orientation)

YAAAAYYYYYYYY It's official! The internet doesn't lie! (oh wait, well, sometimes it does but not this time!!)

I turned in my app on March 30, but the deadline was March 31. I called day before yesterday to ask when we might know something and was told that the "letters" would go into the mail on June 1. The waiting is KILLING me!!! Hopefully the time will pass quickly. When I began my pre-reqs last spring, I thought this time would NEVER get here. IT'S HERE! IT'S HERE!

The ACTUAL letter came today!! Dh ran down and laminated it -- silly goof! How cute. I was out of town and he stopped everyone when we got in and said congratulations and he wanted to present it to me. LOL

Still waiting on my stinking letter and according to my post in this thread I applied on May 10, but the deadline was May 31. Were suppose to get a letter in early July. Its making me sick not knowing what's gonna happen. Anybody else out there still waiting with me?

YESS OMG ME!!! I applied May 12th--Deadling was June 15th. I have heard that we know 10 days from that or 2-3 weeks from that..WHO KNOWS! All I know is that I am going absolutely insane!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. I just took a nice, long bath to relax, but it made me even more stressed. My heart is beating so fast, I think the water was too freakin' hot for a Florida summer! hhaha! If you ever need anyone to talk to through this rough time, I am here because I know precisely what you're going through:roll

Wow I see that you're in St Pete, I live in Gainesville. Thanks for the support I can be a shoulder for you to lean on also. It's stressful though, this time isn't going by quick enough. Its so bad my son will be turning 3 Wednesday and I thought his birthday was next week.
