Who's starting (or hoping to start) this fall?

Published

I used to post in this forum awhile ago, then kinda took a break because there was just alot of waiting until I actually got into nursing school. Well, I finally got in and am starting this fall :) I don't feel quite right about posting in the students section though, because I'm not quite there yet. I just wanted to see if there are any other soon-to-be nursing students who are lurking in this forum.

I just got accepted for Fall!!! I feel relieved more than anything, they had made a decision 5 weeks ago, but had made that decision incorrectly. It took 5 weeks, many phone calls, and a ton of stress, but I was able to get them to look at my file again and accept me!

I am hoping to start this fall as well, we should expect our letters sometime in June. Needless to say the wait is killing me. I did find out today that 180 students applied for 160 spots, so with that news I am pretty optimistic!

I don't know if it makes a difference however I am at a good size university? I know when I signed my progression to major form, our rep said they usually accept 150-160 students each fall, ( 1 start a year for tradition BSN.) They changed the science pre-reqs to include A&P1,2 instead of taking during the program, starting last year, and since then a lot of students transferred out. I was told that last year 220 students applied, and after the spring grades came in roughly 160 were qualified, and they all got in.

Good luck, I hope we all are accepted for the fall!!

that's good. There are only 120 spots for this spot. There were 600 + applicants but only around 400 qualified the GPA requirement. The rumor going around is that they only asked the top half to take the extrance test but that hasn't been confirmed. So I wonder if I'm in the run with 399 people or 199 people for those 120 spots? Waiting to see in 2 weeks when the acceptance letters get in!!!

Last year, there were about 360 applicants for 40 spots in my program (but they actually accepted 45 rather than the 40). This year, there are even more applicants for roughly the same number of spots.

I was accepted and will start the RN program in the Fall 2010.

Congratulations to all that have been accepted!!!:yeah:

I've just applied for the program at Howard Community College in Columbia, MD. I know I will most likely be waitlisted but of course I just can't help but hold onto that glimmer of hope that I will get a seat for Fall '10. First they have to seat all of the people waitlisted last year and then they start seating new applicants. Applicants that live in county are given priority so I am hoping that since I am in county, that will help me out a bit. I was told that we would find out if we were offered a seat or be given a waitlist number until late May so I'll just have to be patient. Good Luck to everyone still hoping to get into the program of their choice! :nurse:

Also, congrats to everyone to did get accepted! I bet you all are so excited to get started. If I do get waitlisted, hopefully the time will go by fairly quickly.

Want to know something funny? My birthday was today and my family bought me my first pair of scrubs personalized with "Nurse Torrey" on the front. I LOVE them, and I'm not even in nursing school yet, lol! My nursing school will have a uniform anyway so I wont be able to wear them anytime soon, but at least I get to try them on. lol! Can you tell Im excited to be a nurse? :nurse:
