  1. Snoopy, I am in my 2nd year of the program at RVCC. I heard in February-March through early acceptance that I was accepted into the program that was starting in September. It's a tough program. I'm a older student with multiple degrees, but this is one of the hardest things I've done. Lots of studying, lots of work, and the tests are tough. I know that a lot of us had done very well in pre-reqs and the TEAS, but we're all working hard to stay in the program. As someone said "Bs are the new As." You'll feel at times that they want you to drop/fail out because of all the academic/regulatory hoops you'll have to jump through. But hang in there!! You'll meet some great friends in your classes and you'll help each other out. Good luck with our application. If you want to send me any msgs., feel free. We're all in this together. :)
  2. I'll be almost 60 when I graduate from my RN program that starts Sept. 2010. I'm not worried about competing with younger classmates; I've been more than holding my own as a pre-nursing student while some of the 'kids' crashed and burned. There's a lot to be said for maturity. Not that I didn't do stupid things when I was a 'young' undergrad. Go for it!!
  3. See if you can find out what book you'll need and get it early. Some reading over the summer could go a long way.
  4. I'm in NJ and starting Raritan Valley Comm. College in Sept. 2010. Making a career change....can't wait to start.
  5. Amazed at the amount of people whose GPA dropped in nursing school. I like to get good grades, but I may have to recaqlibrate my 'doing well' meter. Just want to learn and put to practical use the knew knowledge. Good luck to all
  6. Thanks Sargam..can't wait until the orientation class whic is March 18. As far as A&P, I got an A in both, people I know from the classes did to. But if you get an A in AP II, that should be good. You'll need to do well in the TEAS test also. Would it hurt do take A&P 1 again...no. Summer school ain't fun...there's a lot fo learn in a short period of time. You might want to talk to your advisor...maybe he/she has some ideas. Good luck.
  7. That's great news! Being terrified is what I would call a high class problem! Here's a hint: write on a list of what terrifies you...doesn't matter what it is or how silly it might be. When you're done, study each item and figure out what you can do to conquer that specific fear. Is it math? Do a little extra studying between now and school. Anatomy--review your notes. You'll do great! FYI--I just found out I'm staring nursing school in September. I'm worried about being overwhelmed so betwee now and then I'm taking the non-nurse course, testing out when I can (CLEP tests). Then I can concentrate on the nursing courses. Have fun with it.
  8. Freedom42 touched on all the possible study techniques. From talking to others in class I know that everybody learns a different way. My best way was to go over the class notes and write them on flash cards. I would do this 2 or 3 times before a test. The process of writing helps me to learn. Then I would study the cards, and then get a notepad and just write down everything I could remember about every subject. Does this take time? You bet. It it worth it? It was for me. Good luck.
  9. I'll be starting the RVCC nursing program this fall. Super-excited!! Congratulations to all those who've heard and good luck to the rest!
  10. RB2000, Thanks RB, make sure you let us all know when you get the good news. Meanwhile, keep breathing...its tough to wait.
  11. Well...I heard and I'm in. A great relief, that's for sure. Good luck to everyone, hopefully we'll all celebrate soon.
  12. I just found out I was accepted at RVCC! Exhale...and breathe. I hope everyone hears soon from their schools and the news is good.
  13. RB2000, time sure crawls by. Hopefully we'll all be getting good news. Diane
  14. Stressing myself out waiting to hear from schools I've applied to. It's getting worse now that people are posting who say they've been accepted for fall program 2010! What does that mean? Do school send out letters in waves or all at once. Congrats to them! I want to be one.. NJ or PA is OK with me.
  15. OK, pre-reqs are complete, Teas test was taken, applications completed. Now the WAIT! Don't really expect to hear anything till end of Feb., beginning of March, but still running to mailbox everyday. So...has anybody heard from Raritan Valley Community College, or Capital Health School of Nursing? Let me know....and good luck. Maybe we'll meet up in school in the Fall. Diane
