I'm just curious to know what other side jobs nurses out there are doing, whether you're doing nursing full time, part time, or per diem. It doesn't have to be nursing related either!
As I am still in nursing school and can not yet work as a nurse, I do hair on the side. I have my cosmetology license, so I work in a salon when I am not in class to make money to help pay for nursing school. It's not related to nursing, but it is good for making connections! I have several clients who are nurses in local hospitals. Not only is it good for getting my name out there, but they are also so helpful when it comes to tips for surviving nursing school and also learning about the hospitals they work out and who to talk to when it comes time to find a job after graduation!
Nursing is my "side job" . I work full time on the boo boo bus as a medic covering 6 towns for 911. I love that job a lot, even though it pays a bit less than nursing. I LOVE going to work, even though I know that is kinda lame!I work per-diem as an IV nurse and only do that once or twice a week depending on when they need me. I do love the people I work with and most of the patients, but just not as much as I love the ambulance. The IV team plays into my short attention span and is an ideal nursing job for me, so I don't mind going to work.

This is what I want to do!!! My heart is in EMS. Nice to hear of someone else doing it.
Don't got, Don't want one - I spend all non-working/non-sleeping time in my garden and with my family. I missed so much of my son's childhood always working and am trying to make up for it now.
I do teach workshops in canning and preserving but I don't really make any money off it. It just part of my past I enjoy and a bit of prepper mania. Plus I want people who want to do this to know how to do it safely so they don't make selves or others sick.

Working full time in a level II trauma center ED with a volume of 65,000 patients seen per year. Just started PRN in a Medical Critical Care unit. Loving both so far. My heart lies with eventually becoming a CRNA but I'm loving ER nursing. I just know I won't be able to keep that pace up for 40-50 years until retirement.
