What's your side job?

Published

I'm just curious to know what other side jobs nurses out there are doing, whether you're doing nursing full time, part time, or per diem. It doesn't have to be nursing related either!

Does everyone have a side job? I work my shifts and leave it at that.

I always wondered this too. Seems like everyone has a per diem job on top of their full time gig. I guess working three days a weeks leaves a lot of time off you would think but I love my off days.

I get that. I actually use the writing as an outlet, and I was a teacher in a past life so ...

I work part time as a PP nurse and will be a clinical instructor in the spring.

I work part time as a hospice nurse. 3 12's a week. And I do per diem at the county jail.

I work so much overtime, my full time job is also my side job.

My side job is picking up shifts at my current job. Talk about convenience!

Specializes in ER, Med-surg.

I work PRN in the ER and do freelance writing on the side.

I also just got hired for a PRN research job so I'm excited to see how that goes.

It seems like most of my ER coworkers work full time there plus PRN elsewhere, which sounds completely exhausting. Picking up overtime is bad enough and at least I get time and a half for that! I don't think I have it in me to work fulltime and more at the bedside.

Elderly daycare.

Little to no stress.

I love it and it's fun...

Wish I could do it full time!!

I pick boogers, clip nails and wipe unclean butts on the side. Oh yeah, I am a mother to three.

Once I transition from novice nurse to competent nurse, I will get rid of previous side job and acquire new side job of finding my next husband :)

Specializes in ER, progressive care.

I work full-time in a busy hospital ER and I work PRN at a freestanding ER. Starting mid-January I'll be a part-time FNP student!

State licensed building contractor. I've also been a trauma ICU nurse for 35 years. I've always complained that I've never found a CEU course that counts toward both licenses. Maybe a class on handicap accessible building codes? Must not be much demand.

I am a part-time nurse at a rehab center. I work 4 hour shifts there 3-5 days a week. When I am not there, I am most likely working as an ECG technician, which is a 0.9 FTE.
