What Kind of Threads Do You ENJOY Reading?

Published

There's an interesting thread floating around here asking what topics members hate to see. I thought I'd switch things up with one asking what types of threads we actually like to read and respond to. (Please pardon that glaring grammatical error.)

Some of my personal favorites include the articles. These are often entertaining and almost always educational. I also love the real-life stories about nurses being patients, the ones about the positives of nursing, and of course the funny ones and the WILTW threads.

Anyone care to share?

I like anything written by Ruby Vee.

Awwww! Thanks.

I have to admit, I take a perverse pleasure in the "Help, I only killed 2 people and now they want to fire me and other nurses have killed way more people so how come they're picking on me?" threads. I gamely join the crowd in trying to provide genuine help and insight until it finally devolves into all of us being called names.

I always marvel at the ability of human beings to self-destruct.

In kinda the same vein, I also love the "My GF just started nursing school and I'm concerned about the amount/quality/character of memberes she will encounter..."

I enjoy the threads where posters get a reality check.

I'm a big Ruby and Roser fan. Would like to work with either one of them. I like people who tell it like it is. I love to hear way back when nursing stories and how we used to do things before the EBP folks came along to tell us we were doing it all wrong. I also like posts that deal with actual clinical issues although those are few and far between now days, crowded out by all the whining and complaining about relationship issues with colleagues and nurses accused of drug diversion. I miss the old days when you just got in there and did it and got along with your fellow nurses because you had to rely on each other. I also love the funny stories.

I like the trolls.

Are you serious Farawyn? I dislike the trolls. They lure you in with beguiling titles and maybe the first few sentences of their posts are interesting, then become so absurd that you can only hope are written by "trolls".

If that is what you mean by trolls?

Can someone please point out the glaring grammatical error? I don't see it unless it is ending the sentence with a preposition? I thought that grammar rule was flexible?

This is a thread about posts you enjoy....I get annoyed with responses that don't stick to the point of the title ;).

GomerBlog is pretty funny

I love the School Nurse section threads. Those folks are absolutely hilarious and so, so supportive of each other.

.

Yes, it was ending a sentence with a preposition. I'm something of a grammar freak and I cringe whenever I do that. ;)

As an experienced nurse and nurse educator, I like posts from nursing students and new nurses that ask for advice, information, or support from experienced nurses after the OP has made a good-faith effort to find information or solve the problem on their own.

As an NP student, I enjoy posts from experienced APRNs who discuss their specialty, experiences, and difficult scenarios/case studies that promote critical thinking. I also like how-to articles and helpful links/resources.

All sorts of threads and replies. Life ia complex, and so are people, nurses or not. I enjoy reading AllNurses any chance I get.

The only thing I don't like is disrespect and snark. No one was born knowing everything. We learn as we go.

I was hoping that "nurses eat their young" was a myth, but it isn't. It's actually quite real, sadly.
