Just curious what different hospitals, clinics, organizations etc are giving their staff over the holidays this year. As a nurse I've never gotten more than a couple hundred bucks as a Christmas bonus but it's always appreciated when employers give a little extra. What are you getting this year? Cash? Coffee mug? Please share!
Genius me, I volunteered to work 5 of 6 (night before, night of) holidays if I could have Christmas Eve off. What did I get for a bonus? A bonus night of work that I don't want- thats right, working Christmas Eve, too. And I got to work short staffed on TD as they floated two of the nurses to floors that didn't bother to cover their holidays. We are free to have our own party, though. And to come in at noon on a random Tuesday for a buffet (I work night shift, so not really so great for me). Last year we got a card that said I was a valued member of the team and an orange.

Well, for a couple of years we got $20 WalMart gift cards. I always gave mine to one of the NA's who has 3 little kids. Last year it was a lovely note from the administrator reminding us how valuable we are to the hospital. The Big Wigs brought ice cream with red and green sprinkles to each department. Night shift got those little cups of vanilla ice cream like you get at school with the mini tongue depressor spoons to enjoy it with. No sprinkles. They always have a wonderful Christmas luncheon every employee is welcome to attend if they're working. If not they give you a rain check for a meal in the cafeteria which the cashiers refuse to accept because they have no expiration date on them!! Merry Christmas yall! I personally can't wait for Nurses Day when we get back packs or lunch bags or coffee mugs. There's always apparently a surplus of those because the following week everybody in housekeeping and Xray has one too.
