What date do you start Nursing school?

When do you start school ( date)? Are you planning to buy anything that could help you in nursing school, if so, what? I just want to buy a voice recorder.

Fall semster starts August 25th. I am not looking forward to it---I need more vacation time.

I just got my book list a couple of days ago. From the bookstore, everything we are to have would be around $900. I have spent lots of time the past couple days looking for the best prices and I can probably get everything online for around $300 or so.

This year the ISBNs were provided except for one book. Before, I would just go into the bookstore with a notepad and write them all down.

I start on Aug 18th. It will be my first nursing semester. All my prereq's are finished.

I'll be taking:

Fundamentals of nursing with lab

Health assessment with clinicals

Pharmacology

Health provider level CPR

I'm very excited to be doing this...you see I'm doing this with my daughter! We were both accepted. :)

That sounds like funn--mother and daugter persuing nursing career at the same time and also attending the same school. Helping each other. If I was in your place I would write a book later in life about this.

If it were me and my mom, it would sound more like a nightmare. :eek: I could probably write a book about it, too, although mine would probably be very different! :yeah::grn:

It would probably be a nightmare for me too. Not that my mom is bad or anything, but my mom & dad are ambitious and I can picture them saying to me after graduating ,"I am much older than you and I got a second degree" you are young and you should do more--more-more. Continue school and be a doctor or dentist.

i start on the 23rd at D'Youville College (anyone else???)

i just went to the eye doctor to get checked up for contacts!!

my eyesight is JUST bad enough that i have to wear glasses during lectures and while driving. i figured i could do without the extra pair of glasses on my face. gets in the way and totally limits my range of vision. i feel so liberated now!! haha (:

Eww, contacts... I don't like sticking anything in my eyes. :eek:

I don't have to wear glasses all the time. Well, I need them for driving at night (I have transition lenses, so I leave them on anyway 'til I get to wherever it is I'm going) and looking at boards for lectures. Otherwise, I don't need them to read. Actually, if I put them on while reading... sometimes, I get headaches.

One thing good about contacts though -->> changing one's eye color. I still won't wear them.

I wore contacts for seventeen years, THEN developed an allergy to them. Now, I can't wear them and I have little bumps on the inside of my eyelids that feel like debris in my eye.

But, I wish I could wear them again!

For my program, orientation is on Aug. 18th but the first official day of class is Aug. 23 and I am so excited and cannot wait to get started!

I Start TOMORROW August 16th, I'm getting prepared for it as we speak. I am so looking forward to starting with my twin sister. It should be really interesting. We have 52 students in our class and only 2 or 3 people have the syllabus that we have to bring to class tomorrow. Everyone else wasn't able to get it because It came in the bookstore late on friday and we had orientation and the bookstore was closed. The bookstore opens at 7:45am monday and our class starts at 8:30am. I already know it's gonna be packed with us nursing students. So me and my sis are gonna try to be there at least by 7:15am. Anyways, we've gotten all of our books. Bought majority of them online, save about $450! We're going to buy a few more supplies tomorrow in the bookstore!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll let you know how my first day goes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:smokin:

I start tomorrow at FTCC, Fayetteville, NC. I slowly moved up the alternate list all summer, and finally got the call offering me a spot just last week.

Hi Kathy, where are you from?

I start tomorrow at FTCC, Fayetteville, NC. I slowly moved up the alternate list all summer, and finally got the call offering me a spot just last week.

I am also from NC, but the western end. I have a friend who is on the alternate list and she is really hoping to get a call VERY soon.

I begin classes at 9 am on Thursday. I don't know if I'm ready for this or not!
