nathRN, congratulations!! I too accepted an offer from neuroscience and will be starting in April. Looks like we will literally be coworkers, how cool! Have you already started looking at housing? When are you going to head over there?

SimplisticRnx, I think it just depends on the manager. Did you say you interviewed for adult medicine? Did the manager tell you anything at the end of the interview? When I had mine the manager told me that she would be forwarding my information and someone would contact me in a few days. I think you could maybe follow up with a call after one week if you haven't heard back maybe. Hope that helps. How did you feel about the interview?? I'm sure you did great!

Erin, I don't think I would make it through the 4 hours with high heels on! LoL! I will just wear my suit as planned. Well I didn't really have any input in the unit that I would be interviewing for. Neuroscience is the department that has interest in me and that is more than fine with me. I'll be flying out on Tuesday and I am very excited and nervous. I'm just going to be myself and see how it goes while hoping for the best. What unit did you accept an offer from? I can't wait to see the hospital! I'm glad that everything went well for you and who knows we might bump into one another in a few weeks!

Erin, I was wondering if you wore a professional suit or scrubs to the site visit. I was planning on dressing professionally, but in the email that the recruiter sent out she said that scrubs were okay. How was everyone dressed? Thank you for the information.

Wow 75 questions in 45 minutes is fast! It took me 2 hours to get through my 75 questions before my computer shut off. I was counting on not having to do the whole 265 so I decided to really take my time on each question even if the correct answer seemed super obvious at first. My quick results were available exactly 48 hours afterwards as well but I am choosing not to waste $7.95. I'm going to trust the "trick". Also, I checked my status on the continentaltesting website and there is a box that reads "GRADE" and underneath that box it clearly reads "PASS". So that is all the confirmation I need and it was free to check, lol.

SimplisticRnx are you applying for a spot in the new grad residency or just for a staff position? Im not sure if everyone has to tour/shadow. It is my understanding that the site visit is important so that they can see if one might be a good fit for a particular unit especially for the new grads but I'm just assuming. Tigerlilie, did you need to bring and present your driver's license and copy of your social security card for the site visit? Were you able to take the drug screen that same day as well? Or did they offer you a position and there is still stuff you have to complete? March 5 is right around the corner and I am seriously not sure how they are going to get all of this stuff done for some of us who are still in the interviewing stage. I'm so stressed out, lol. Don't even get me started on my anxiety in regards to acquiring a NC RN license. I passed NCLEX here in Illinois on 01/23/2012 and am still waiting for my illinois license number!

TigerLilie, How did the site visit go? Can you tell me what the process is like? What do you do during those 4 hours? I will be flying out in a few days for a site visit as well. I am so nervous because I would really like to be offered a position as well. I tell myself the same thing that if God wants me to be there then He will lay a path for me. This comforts me a lot even with all of my anxiety.

I was wondering if anyone can tell me the actual start date for PCMH's new grad residency program 2012? I had a phone interview last friday (01/20/2012) and the manager told me that someone would be in contact with me to tell me about the next phase and answer any specific questions I had such as start date? You guys have talked about shadowing and face-to-face interviews. I'm a little worried because I'm not sure if I'm going to have enough time to get through all of those steps if the residency starts the first week of March. I passed NCLEX 01/23/2012 and if they are going to offer me a spot I think i need to start worrying about endorsing a license to NC since I presently live in Illinois. I'm so confused. Any feedback or information would be much appreciated!! Congratulations to everyone who has received a formal offer!

I took my NCLEX exam earlier today at 12:30pm. My computer shut off after I finished the 75th question and I got home around 4:30pm. I felt like the exam was extremely difficult and that I was failing the entire time. So many SATA and priority questions. I even thought the one math question was difficult. I think my saving grace was the many psych questions that seemed to pop up. When I got home and tried to reregister for the NCLEX this is the message that PearsonVue gave me: "Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Please contact your Member Board for further assistance. Another registration cannot be made at this time"..... Can someone just reiterate that this is the "good popup"? I'm just so happy that the test is over. It took me 2 hours to answer those 75 questions.

I realize that it has been awhile since anyone has posted about PCMH but I was hoping we could revive the thread. I have an interview on the 20th of this month for the New Grad Residency Program 2012 that will begin in March. My interview is with the manager of neurosciences. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what actual floor units this might pertain to. When I spoke with the woman from recruitment services, she told me that this specific manager was interested in interviewing me and there was no mention about any of my areas of interest. I'm not really worried about it because in the economic climate, an opportunity for competent and supportive training will be a blessing.

To the OP, I see where you are coming from. I too was raised with certain old fashioned standards about the man being the "head of household" in every sense of the word. In my family, being an educated woman and being able to make money was stressed not because we need to support our families one day, but instead, so that if anything unexpected were to ever occur ... we would be capable of supporting ourselves and our children and not be left on our knees and at the mercy of a man. But with that said, this is America and to each his/her own. If two people are happy and comfortable in their roles then that is all that matters. If the woman has no problem putting in 50-60 hour work weeks while the man stays at home and tends to work there then thats great, after all, men do it all the time. I'm just not that woman and I will hopefully never have to be that woman. In the future I hope my income is exclusively supplemental vs. necessary. That's all I've ever known.
