I am still in nursing school and I usually always wear makeup when I'm out most of the time like a "full face of makeup" not like a clown or anything weird and over the top haha but I usually always wear foundation, concelar, eye liner, mascara, a little bronzer niti have always thought it would be kind of pointless to wake up every day or everyother day (whatever my work schedule will be) and put on a full face of makeup when I'm going to be running around a hospital all day, helping people to the bathroom, giving baths, doing charts, giving meds etc. but I still feel like when I'm a nurse I dont want to look like a total bum either like I just rolled outa bed with no makeup on (because that is never a good look when I'm pale because I havent tanned or I'm beyond tird that day). I know I am not going to want to put on a ton of makeup everyday when its just going to rub off , sweat off etc.
I just dont want to look sloppy infront of patients, their familys, other co workers, or bosses.
Do you wear makeup to work as a nurse?
If so, what do you wear to keep it simple?
Do you think its silly to put makeup on in this type of profession when we are just running around non stop?
Also, how do you make yourself look put together when it comes to usually always havng your hair up a lot of the time?
havent worn makeup in, what, 12 years?? not gonna start now. i am always freshly showered, clean, hair combed back into ponytail or something, but nope not a make-up type of girl. saved me tons of money too, i have pals that spend 100 dollars a month on makeup:eek:
DH would be freaked if i wore makeup, probably go back to our room looking for his real wife and not the impostor...he cant stand makeup and how it rubs off on everything
mind you, have no prob with makeup, just not for me.
I dont need to wear foundation because I have a nice, flawless skin and also because I dont want to "destroy" my face.I have seen what foundation make up has done to people faces (their face is so used to make up that they look terrible without it:(((((( I rather keep my natural look so I dont have to worry what I look without make up,although sometimes I do wear mascara,lipstick,eye-shadow.More for fun-trying out different colors of make up or for party:)
Meriwhen said:I always wear foundation of some sort, but that is because I have rosacea so the redness needs to be tamed. And I always wear lipstick because I like to. The rest of the makeup routine depends on how I feel that day and/or if I'm running late. If I do, I go for a simple and understated look.In fact, because of the darn rosacea, I don't even need to wear blush--I automatically look like I'm wearing some ?
Me too. I used to be so pale, people thought I was sick. Now my cheeks are naturally pink! OP, I wear makeup every day. Foundation, a quick brush of bronze to dampen the shine, eye liner with a light hand, neutral eye shadow. I'm 54 and my makeup actually makes me look younger and more "finished." Due to allergies I no longer wear mascara, but the eyeliner takes care of that. Without my makeup I just look old and tired.
I wear makeup, but keep it simple. Just powder foundation, blush and lip color.
I am also a trained makeup artist, and I prefer mineral makeup like Jane Iredale.
With a good quality mineral makeup, you can keep it light for daytime or
enhance the look for evenings and special occasions.
All said and done, I love playing with makeup palettes!:redbeathe
I stopped wearing makeup after I became a paramedic, working 24 to 96 hour shifts. How I saw it was the patients and their families appreciate good patient care more then a pretty face. That said, when I transitioned to management I began wearing make-up again, but only for things like public meetings and group presentations.
I wear makeup to work, but never a lot. I'll use concealer for dark circles under my eyes if I didn't get much sleep, but most of the time I just wear eyeliner, mascara, and neutral eyeshadow. I've always hated lipstick/lipgloss and blush (my cheeks are naturally rosy). I feel it gives me some polish and a boost of confidence, and I think my confidence translates to my patients as competence and professionalism. For those who can feel confident without makeup, I'm jealous!
I've never worn daily make-up other than mascara and usually a little brow powder as I have very pale brows and lashes and frankly resemble a chemo patient without it. I only wear foundation, eye line/shadow, etc... for the odd formal occasion (and it's one of those little tiny sample bottles you buy to try a product out).
I have pretty good skin and don't really need to cover up anything and the few times I have worn make up, I've always ended up breaking out the next day and to me it's not worth the zits. Though as I've gotten older I've noticed some broken capillaries on either side of my nose - but it doesn't bug me enough to go buy foundation. Yet.
Yes I wear it everyday....I love eye shadow and wear the pinks and purples as the bold color accents...just found the best mascara I have ever used...by Tarte..all natural with good stuff in it that is safe for your lashes and it really builds up fast so you do not have to apply a ton of coats. I am a mascara snob.....I loved Max factor mascaras and last year they took all max Factor products form the US market...have tried a lot of mascara in 2010...all kind of so so..then I tried the Tarte..wow that stuff is great.

I only wear makeup when I'm going out on a date or a Girls Night Out. I NEVER wear makeup to work.
To be honest, I really don't need to anyway.
As far as my hair is concerned, I wear a big curly afro puff pulled to the back. I only wear my hair out when I'm away from work.
I'm a girly girl too, and I wear 5 inch stilletto's when I'm not working. However, since I'm only allowed to wear blue scrubs, I will go out of my way to find cute cuts and fits for my body type. I also wear a nice blazer lab coat when I'm not working ER and I have nice "nursing heels" (AKA Dansko's).
I work with some nurses who wear a full face of makeup every time they work and it's nothing wrong with it.
