wearing makeup to work?

I am still in nursing school and I usually always wear makeup when I'm out most of the time like a "full face of makeup" not like a clown or anything weird and over the top haha but I usually always wear foundation, concelar, eye liner, mascara, a little bronzer niti have always thought it would be kind of pointless to wake up every day or everyother day (whatever my work schedule will be) and put on a full face of makeup when I'm going to be running around a hospital all day, helping people to the bathroom, giving baths, doing charts, giving meds etc. but I still feel like when I'm a nurse I dont want to look like a total bum either like I just rolled outa bed with no makeup on (because that is never a good look when I'm pale because I havent tanned or I'm beyond tird that day). I know I am not going to want to put on a ton of makeup everyday when its just going to rub off , sweat off etc.

I just dont want to look sloppy infront of patients, their familys, other co workers, or bosses.

Do you wear makeup to work as a nurse?

If so, what do you wear to keep it simple?

Do you think its silly to put makeup on in this type of profession when we are just running around non stop?

Also, how do you make yourself look put together when it comes to usually always havng your hair up a lot of the time?

The only makeup I wear is a pretty pink lip gloss. I also always wear little diamond studs in my ears to have a little sparkle around my face. These two things help me feel a little girlie at work. My scrubs are always clean and pressed and the my hair/body are right out of the shower when I get to work. I wear my hair back in a neat way with pretty clips, etc. I look fresh and neat.

I don't wear makeup ever, and I wear a crew cut, very simple.

:lol2:

as for me, only on the rare occasion that I'm going out after work. chances are, when I wear makeup, I usually end up in a mask all day for all my droplet/airborne precautions patients.

Oh I'm also in love with mac make up. Studio fix all the way baby !! Its light and natural. I love dazzle glass lip gloss too, it actually stays on all shift.

Minerals, mascara, Burt's Bees in Peony on the lips. Hair has to be up, per policy. So, it's rocking the pony tail or the big claw clip. If I am especially tired, I may do a little extra with the eyes and whatever--but I don't want to have to do more than touch up the gloss through the night.

I wear a full face of makeup (foundation, powder, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, lipstick) every time I go to work. I would scare the patients and my coworkers if I didn't . I look totally different sans makeup. It is not pretty :o. I just wish I could find some makeup that lasts 14 hrs. By the end of the 12 hr shifts my foundation has settled into the fine lines under my eyes a bit too much. I look good for the first 6-8 hrs, though :p.

Does Carmex and mascara count?

I usually wear a light coverage foundation and mascara.

I agree, except I skip the eyeshadow. I think I would also scare myself if I looked

in the mirror at work and saw myself sans makeup.

If I were 25 or younger, I think I would be OK with just some gloss, eyeliner and

mascara. No foundation needed if you have young, nice skin. Unfortunately, I am

most definitely not 25 or younger!

My hair is short, styling is easy.

I make sure my scrubs are ironed, and my hair is back. Its easier that way. I can't be bothered with make up except for a light concealer on some days if I have bags under my eyes :). Other than that, the seven minutes it would take to apply equals seven more minutes of sleep.

I arrive at work neat, with clean scrubs and neat hair, sometimes a light fragrance and my deodorant. But 90% of the time I don't wear makeup. Sometimes on days off I do foundation and eyes, but at work I feel it's extraneous and the rare occasions I've worn it I've sweat it off (and I don't want to reapply in a germy environment.)

I wear makeup nearly evertime I go out so for me, it is only natural I put on makeup before work and its practially the whole deal: mineral powder, bronzer, blush, eyeliner, mascara, a light touch up on the brows, and plus lip tint (burts bees). Its a lot, but totally worth feeling (and looking) good for me. It only takes me 5min, max.

Like a few others said, it depends on personal preferance, but nothing beats just looking neat and clean.

(P.S. I can't live without my eyeliner, it really does make me look more awake! :))

Full face of makeup to work everytime.
