QuoteThe abortion law builds on legislation passed in 2010 that represented a major shift for a traditionally Catholic country, transforming Spain into one of the most progressive countries in Europe on reproductive rights. Spain's constitutional court last week rejected a challenge by the right-wing Popular Party against allowing abortions in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.
The debate will be heated in Spain, I imagine, as the conservative opposition pushes back. My daughter had horrible menstrual pain during her adolescence and young adulthood. I'm certain that she would have benefitted from that time.

A few thousand people stood up for our constitution in Fairbanks today. They protested across the state with some villages sending images of a people proclaiming that the only king they recognize is the life sustaining Salmon.
TMB, you know where I live. We had 7,000 people in our little city! It's an unofficial number but even if it were off by 1,000, it was still a remarkable number considering we are pure purple.
Meanwhile, back on the fringes:
Two people dead and two hospitalized in Minnesota after being shot by a known trump supporter, complete with guns, hit list, and a manifesto. The two deaths were Democratic legislators. The alleged killer and his wife have been arrested. I'm still wondering about the real effects of political disrespect and violence on elected officials, judges, etc. The hate mail and death threats alone must be overwhelming!
trump's self-indulgent birthday party seems to have been a dud. Poor turnout and the iffy performance of the troops involved seem to be the main topics of gossip. I'm seeing a lot of speculation on why they did such a bad job with the parade. I'm very angry, myself, and ashamed of what the regime has been doing to our troops. I have chosen to be unarmed and I depend on these young men and women to fend off the bad guys with guns. They deserve better than this. (ETA: the veterans arrested last week after blowing through a checkpoint to start a sit-in are slowly being released. Hope they gave the old guy his walker back.)
Lot's of discussion happening about resistance movements and non-violent strategies. According to the poli sci folks showing up in commentary, non-violent resistance tends to be more effective than armed revolt. They also had some interesting info about demonstrations. Also saw a lot of short-form training videos on safety when things get tense. Very informative discussion on the Pod Save America channel on YouTube, dated today.
Newsom is running for president.
trump, et al, are still trying to start a race war.
There was a good turnout at our local rally; I've heard estimates from 5000-10000, from city with 100,000 population It was spread out far beyond the planned area, down sidewalks and streets. The speakers were okay, but I left about 1/2 through because I need to use the bathroom and get off my feet. As I left, more people were streaming in. When ever the speakers mentioned the president's name, the crowd chanted "No Kings" and when congress and SCOTUS were mentioned, the crowd chanted "Do Your Job".

just another example of a "tolerant" Dem promoting violence against people they don't agree with and thinking it is funny
,Julie von Haefen, a North Carolina state representative from Wake County NC, posted a photo from a "No Kings" rally that explicitly called for the beheading of two men including Donald Trump
After she got called out she changed up her pics and said the usual so sorry blah blah
If only they could stop themselves before they do such stupid things, no wonder we have maniacs running around committing acts of violence
just wonder why these people went with the "no kings" slogan, Trump cant seem to get anything done because of all the resistance. If he were truly a king there would be zero resistance because resistance would not be allowed

Gov Newsom would be a complete nightmare, has no one been paying any attention to the train wreck that California has turned into.
Trump still trying to start a race war LOL, stop watching legacy/mainstream news they are lying to you
Yes. Someone is lying to you.
QuoteIn short, our individual-level examination found that among radicalized individuals in the United States, those adhering to a left-wing ideology were markedly less likely to engage in violent ideologically motivated acts when compared to right-wing individuals. By contrast, we found no such difference between Islamist and right-wing individuals. Reanalyzing the data with left-wing individuals being a reference category showed that the difference between Islamist and left-wing individuals was also significant (SI Appendix).
My heart goes out to all the victims of Saturday's terror attacks and riots. It is terrible to see people's entire livelihoods ripped away from them in the name of left-wing extremism.
In other news Happy 250th Birthday to the Marines and also to our great President. I hope all the police, military, ICE, and other personnel who have suffered trauma due to the "No Kings" terror attacks will get the help they deserve.

Nobody believes Trump is trying to start a "race war". Trump has done more for civil rights and equal opportunity than any other American alive right now.
