QuoteThe abortion law builds on legislation passed in 2010 that represented a major shift for a traditionally Catholic country, transforming Spain into one of the most progressive countries in Europe on reproductive rights. Spain's constitutional court last week rejected a challenge by the right-wing Popular Party against allowing abortions in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.
The debate will be heated in Spain, I imagine, as the conservative opposition pushes back. My daughter had horrible menstrual pain during her adolescence and young adulthood. I'm certain that she would have benefitted from that time.
Straight Pride Interesting colors, especially the pink. The guy on the left looks like he's questioning his life's decisions.
Love all the American flags as if they are doing some patriotic duty.

I was blocked because I use an ad blocker. What stood out in your post is how a majority population immediately becomes "victims" when they're no longer the center of attention and concern.

'No Kings' protests near me: interactive map to find nearest anti-Trump demonstration on June 14
Launched by the 50501 Movement and a coalition of progressive groups, the protests are described as a grassroots pushback against what organizers say is Trump's "authoritarian spectacle.” The name refers to "50 protests, 50 states, one movement.”
According to the official No Kings website, the goal is to show the world "what democracy really looks like" – not armored vehicles rolling past the Lincoln Memorial.
"We're not gathering to feed his ego,” the group says. "We're building a movement that leaves him behind.” Events will take place in parks, on courthouse steps, in town squares, everywhere except near the parade route.
Now what to put on my No Kings sign tomorrow?
Alaska will have a dozen or more protests scattered across populated areas.

QuoteThe American Civil Liberties Union, a major player in this drama, has been quick to file lawsuits on, among other issues, birthright citizenship, which the Administration seeks to eliminate. Anthony Romero, who is fifty-nine and grew up in public housing in the Bronx and later in New Jersey, has been the executive director of the A.C.L.U. since 2001. I spoke with him recently for The New Yorker Radio Hour. His sense of resolve and confidence were all in evidence. But if things go south and Trump defies the courts, he said, "we've got to shut down this country.” What does that mean?
It looks like Trump is losing support of the labor unions.
Kafka Fan44 said:Misbehaved? Throwing bricks and molotov cocktails at police officers is "misbehaving"? This is terrorism however its just typical business for the modern day left. If they can't control every aspect of your life and force their beliefs on you, they will resort to violence. Spoiled children.
All violence is misbehavior but not all misbehavior is violent. LA not on fire. This involved a tiny fraction on a tiny fraction of the land in LA. It is way out of proportion to call in the Marines. It's just very poor judgement to escalate what could have stayed small.

Trump is manufacturing pretense for a police state.
Flordia. I didn't think we had protests.

It's kind of weird that he thinks his job is to kill protesters rather than to keep the peace and protect the public from harm.

Of course you will.

Because he doesn't care! So smug and arrogant to talk about going to your family's home to tell them you are dead. So sad

The calculated cruelty of the regime has given a lot of petty tyrant wannabes cover to indulge themselves. Meanwhile, a gaggle of veterans had an OG sit-in on the capitol steps yesterday and got themselves arrested. Old school civil disobedience. Worked for Gandi and King, after all. Gotta hope there was some kind of non-violence training for all these demonstrations tomorrow or a lotta people gonna die. We can't be wasting time trying to re-invent the wheel. Of course then there was Stonewall, Malcom, AIM and ACT-UP. We need both. It's all about timing and teamwork.
I was born in 1950, so I came of age during Viet Nam and the civil rights, antiwar and second-wave feminist movements. What goes around comes around, I guess ... just not a circle but a spiral.
I wanna rain on his parade.
