Quote The abortion law builds on legislation passed in 2010 that represented a major shift for a traditionally Catholic country, transforming Spain into one of the most progressive countries in Europe on reproductive rights. Spain's constitutional court last week rejected a challenge by the right-wing Popular Party against allowing abortions in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.

The debate will be heated in Spain, I imagine, as the conservative opposition pushes back. My daughter had horrible menstrual pain during her adolescence and young adulthood. I'm certain that she would have benefitted from that time.

That seems like an apt description of MTG.

Quote The arrest breakdown was released on Thursday by the New York City Police Department and Mayor Eric Adams following mounting pressure for Adams to reveal how many of those arrested at Columbia University and The City College of New York were students after his repeated claims that "outside agitators" guided the protests that led to the arrests. City officials said 29% of the 112 people arrested at a protest at Columbia on Tuesday were not affiliated with the school. At the City College protest, 60% of the 170 arrested were not affiliated with the school, according to the city's press release.

We've seen outside agitators at protests before.

Quote "Another wave of PE-driven healthcare bankruptcies is expected in 2024—almost all [93%] of the most distressed US healthcare companies are owned by PE firms,” O'Grady wrote in the report. The consequences of a healthcare company bankruptcy are more than just financial. It can cause a lack of healthcare access and lead to overburdened providers, according to PESP. "The rise in bankruptcies raises questions about how the private equity business model creates risk for the healthcare system,” O'Grady wrote. "Private equity's heavy use of debt to fund its healthcare investments is becoming a major liability for its portfolio companies as interest rates have risen and remained elevated and labor costs for many healthcare companies have skyrocketed.”

Wait...I thought Obamcare was fixing all our problems?
Actually, I really did think we were on our way to single payer. Doesn't seem like the Dems care any longer, does it? They think they fixed it.
On to the next "crisis "....

Oh boy.
House Republicans are pushing to defund public radio and publicly funded broadcasting because they are unhappy that those entities did not report on Hunter Biden's laptop in ways that conservatives enjoyed.

That's right.
They have a right to speak their minds and if their speech breaks laws they will also experience consequences.
It's interesting that conservatives and Fox are trying to make this a bigger issue than it actually is. Single digit percentages of college students engaging in protest against violence and cruelty is a big big story, I guess.
"A group of migrants staying at an encampment in Denver sent a list of demands to the mayor's desk.
That group said if their demands are met, they will voluntarily stay in city-funded shelters and leave their encampment where families, including young children, still live in tents."

What is a acceptable percentage of students to be victims of harassment and intimidation, or are having their graduation ceremonies cancelled?
