Sexy male scrubs

Published

Pardon the attention grabbing headline, but I have a frivolous question about men's scrubs. I'm a guy (as is obvious from the title), a nursing student, and I work in a local hospital as a clinical tech/nursing assistant/patient care tech, what have you. I've always had the cheapest durable scrubs, but over the last 3 & 1/2 months, I've lost 25lbs, with 10 more to go for my fitness goal, and for the first time, in like forever, I'm looking kinda... well... hot.

I need to change out my entire wardrobe, but I'd also like to look attractive in scrubs. Not just for work, but I volunteer frequently too, and I'm trying to live it up (seriously, never had this going for me before...), and I'd like to be attractive in scrubs as well. What are good brands and styles that provide some added sex appeal while remaining professional?

*FULL DISCLOSURE*

I have an ex that works on a different floor, and she hasn't seen me since our break up, 25lbs heavier. I would like to look great if and when she does.

I think classic light green colored hospital issue scrubs with a drawstring, tucked in scrub top- covered in blood from surgery is hot. OH oops that's a bit too specific.

Is getting ripped part of the new fitness regime? Show off you arms

You will look fine in anything. Don't hide in baggy clothes, go for form fitting. Your confidence will exude as hotness. Congratulations on getting healthy.

Ironically all the latest womens fashion type scrubs are all baby doll type tops that show off curves, tight form fitting bottoms. Cutesy colors and prints. I personally hate them, but it seems as though they sell very well.

It's not that I don't think guys want to look good. My boyfriend spends tons of money on his clothes to get the right fit that make him look good. I guess I've just never heard him use the term sexy to refer to himself.

Well I'm 30, and I've never had this opportunity. Maybe I'm handling it wrong. Pardon the bizarre question, as it's not my intent to misuse this forum.

Thank you all for the input.

Not a bizarre question at all. It's a great question; this is new to you, and you've come here for advice. Congratulations on your success and good luck in your nursing career.

BTW, in my humble opinion, men in scrubs are most definitely sexy! Cherokee Workwear is a nice brand, but you may want to go to a uniform store and try on a few different brands, to see what you prefer.

Lol....

Honestly, even though I feel somewhat trolled at the moment, I will just say this -- there is nothing sexier than a guy that is fit wearing scrubs (and I'm a gay female, so there). That's it. Nothing unusual about the scrubs. The body is there and it shows. You are lucky. You're a guy and you have 0 effort to put out wearing the scrubs -- just put them on, BAM.

Congrats on the weight loss! Keep it up! Your ex is totally going to notice.

Not gonna lie, I love a hot guy in scrubs.

I had an innocent eyeball-crush on a friend in my first nursing job. He was cut and filled out his Cherokees very well. Something about a guy with nice shoulders in scrubs gets me.

Anyway, enough drooling.

I think you should hit a uniform store. Every one I have ever been to has super nice staff who will help you find something that looks good.

Yep, and if you walk in there and say, "I recently lost a lot of weight and need help finding something that looks good," you'll get a nice start on some female attention, most likely. ;)

The only way to achieve that look is to take a set of scrubs to a tailor and have them fitted. Trust me 99% of female nurses under 30 years old and under 130 pounds do that very thing LOL :D you know you do ;)

Probably not. Scrubs are expensive enough as it is, no way does anyone I work with pay extra to have them tailored.

That being said, there is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to look your best at work. Male or female. Heck, I applaud it!

OP, if there is a uniform store anywhere around you go there and try on different brands/styles until you find that magic combination of function and flattering fit.

An account created just so you can poll how best to make your EX jealous of your new look? Wow, AN has sunk to a new low. Where has professionalism gone? I sure do miss it....

Haha. I love this.

Blue Sky makes the scrubs in Grey's Anatomy, not Barco. You could get some of them. Most of the docs on Grey's Anatomy are pretty darn hot!

Uh.. Nope. Women have a crazy variety of scrubs in all different fits and sizes.

Congratulations on the weight loss! I don't have suggestions on scrub brands for men, but I agree with others who stated to try on different brands and see which you like best.

And I completely get where you're coming from, and don't think you're out of line. Some people act like that's your only concern with the nursing field. As long as it's not, which you made apparent in subsequent posts, then go on ahead! ;)

Betenhauser,

The best advice is to get them tailored. All my "gentleman's suits" are of a classical British cut (double breasted). I have to have them tailored because of the obesity epidemic in the US, a coat that fits my shoulders is too baggy in the stomach. If I find an "athletic cut" (narrower midsection), the cut is good. I also get my pants cuffed (also part of a classic cut) being that pants usually need to be hemmed for size.

For scrubs, probably having the top tailored to an "athletic cut" and the pants properly hemmed is about all you can do.

Some other options (taking cues from gentleman's etiquette); Invest in a good stethoscope (accessories) that is of noticeably good quality but not bling-bling. A new haircut perhaps (makes the change in your looks more noticeable), and ALWAYS, good grooming/hygiene.

I have dated many women who can be described as "knockouts" (including a woman who was a contestant in a pageant run by a recent presidential candidate), what I find most attractive in a person is a great personality.

Don't get me wrong, a great body helps alleviate spending time with a person who has the same personality as a glass of water, but that wears out eventually.

That being said, is there anything that you can change about yourself such as begin volunteering at a free clinic once a week? In terms of attractiveness, philanthropy is tops.
