Teacher appreciation week...

I love teachers. Many of my friends are teachers.

I'm sick of hearing about all of the wonderful activities that we will do for Teacher Appreciation week. Someone even made a joke at the last staff meeting about "having to share the treats with the social workers, office staff and nurse." Um, it's my week, too. Ugh. Sorry, just had to vent.

There are 15min massage increments we can sign up for one day next week. They do "all-staff" appreciation week here.

I will literally fight someone for one of those slots, even though there's a 98% chance I'll be interrupted and have to leave in the middle of it.

Kid came down to tell me thank you. "I know nurse appreciation week is...um...soon, right?"

Awww. Kid, you can have all the nurse water and saltines you want!

I'll even throw in a peppermint! And draw a picture on a bandaid and call it a sticker!

Our district has "Staff Appreciation Week" so everyone is lumped in. I did get an edible arrangements and a travel coffee mug for the district nurse for next Wednesday so at least she will finally be acknowledged.

Ours is still called teacher's appreciation but they make sure all staff is included. :)

But I was SHOCKED when my AP sent out her biweekly calendar that she noted School Nurse's appreciation day on there. But it's been a CRAZY year so, epi/2 xcpr/crazycrazy parents, I think I deserve it.

The other 2 district nurses and I are going to celebrate School Nurse Day on May 8th during our last health office meeting of the year. We are providing breakfast to our health office nurses as well as a couple of little gifts. I am making cards that look like to go coffee cups and when you lift the lid a coffee shop gift card will be inside. One of the other district nurses is filling those weekly pill boxes with candy for each day and we are going to attach a little card to it that says "Thanks a "pill"ion for all you do!" Nothing fancy but we have $0 in the budget for providing anything for School Nurse Day. Although to be fair the district doesn't provide anything for the teachers either. The PTSAs at each school do it.

Isn't that the sweetest appreciation ever?!:inlove:

I know the feeling! I've been posting all over Facebook about it being National Nurses' Week, and that National School Nurses' Day is May 9th.

I put the NASN poster on my door. Won't do any good but I just had to. I might put my cap on the skeleton with thoughts of a meme like school nurses waiting for recognition.

I feel the same for Christmas and Valentine's day, I'm always forgotten and the secretaries in the front get candy and stuff from the mom's and I don't get nothing. I did get some treats this year, which was nice, and for v-day one child, who I will always love with all my heart, told the whole class to tell me happy v-day, and they all gave me hugs. That was the best v-day present ever, and I rarely get recognition.

Good call on getting the nurse at my daughter's school a gift. She's a frequent flyer (more just the friend who always "escorts" an injured classmate the the health office).

Oh, and I got the best gift of all today! My sweet diabetic 8th grader just found out she was chosen to be the graduation speaker! She came in here in total shock and asked to call her mom. I honestly almost cried. She's been such a nice kid to work with this year.

I had one kid give me a chocolate on V-day but came back before dismissal and asked for it back because she wanted to give it to her cousin lol.

I know what you all mean, I am right there with you: I get no recognition from anyone at my school for ANYTHING. Next week is teacher appreciation week, so not sure if anything is being done at all, but usually once a month there is a grade level "breakfast" that all staff get invited to, of course I don't even know when that day actually is until it happens, and someone casually mentions "oh breakfast was provided by 4 th grade today, go get something that is left".

SURE, THANKS!

Anyway, I am PTO president at one of my kids schools so I MAKE SURE the nurse gets recognized just as much as the teachers. (She is grateful for that!). Also, next week we have our monthly school nurse district meeting (so about 75 of us) and the nursing department usually does something for us, no idea until we get there what it is.
