I love teachers. Many of my friends are teachers.
I'm sick of hearing about all of the wonderful activities that we will do for Teacher Appreciation week. Someone even made a joke at the last staff meeting about "having to share the treats with the social workers, office staff and nurse." Um, it's my week, too. Ugh. Sorry, just had to vent.
I know what you all mean, I am right there with you: I get no recognition from anyone at my school for ANYTHING. Next week is teacher appreciation week, so not sure if anything is being done at all, but usually once a month there is a grade level "breakfast" that all staff get invited to, of course I don't even know when that day actually is until it happens, and someone casually mentions "oh breakfast was provided by 4 th grade today, go get something that is left".SURE, THANKS!
Anyway, I am PTO president at one of my kids schools so I MAKE SURE the nurse gets recognized just as much as the teachers. (She is grateful for that!). Also, next week we have our monthly school nurse district meeting (so about 75 of us) and the nursing department usually does something for us, no idea until we get there what it is.
In our school it says Teacher Appreciation week, but honestly it's more a staff appreciation week, so we get treats for everyone.
Guys!!! I cannot even complain anymore about teacher appreciation week. I went to the lounge and found that the PTO bought me a scentsy warmer and some scentsy candle bars...I didn't even think they liked me!!!
Maybe next year- they will get really creative and get you a bigger trash can.
All our "teacher appreciation" gifts are food related, donuts, candy, cakes ect. They are having a meal friday and Im sure it will be pasta or something. I eat low carb so none of that I can or will eat. Plus I try not to participate in meals here because I never get to eat uninterrupted and I loathe eating cold food. So Ill just sit here and know Im not appreciated. haha One teacher did say "hey isnt it nurse appreciation week too?" and I said "Well its nurses week. I guess you dont have to appreciate us just recognize us." Heck Id take a "Hey everybody tell our school nurse today thank you cause its her day!" over the intercom during announcements. That wont happen.
