I've been a nurse for 3 years and love my job, but only working 3 shifts a week, I find myself with a lot of free time. In college I worked at Starbucks and absolutely loved it, and kind of miss it to be honest. Would it be absolutely insane to get a part time at Starbucks not for the money but for my own enjoyment/sanity?
Also...consider volunteering. I do that one a week too and it's so beneficial, in more ways than one. Find something that interests you - it could be church related, it could be Big Brothers Big Sisters, it could be a local animal shelter, it could be for hospice, there are millions of options. That's another way to be productive with your free time and really make a difference.
Hi!
Omg, I also worked at Starbucks in college and have been a nurse 4+ years and considered picking up hours at starbucks (free coffee, too!). I say do what makes you happy. I found myself bored on my days off honestly, and I would personally rather pick up hours at a Starbucks than the hospital, even though the pay is so different.
I would do it if I could justify the income difference, but I just can't. I have some financial goals I really want to meet sooner rather than later, and I work as a nurse so much between my first job, my second job, and then picking up extra at my first job that I have started having stress dreams. I would love to do something less stressful if I could find something that paid as well as nursing. Power to you if you can make it work financially.
I don't see a reason why you can't have a side hustle...I like to petsit and farmsit, and get paid quite well for it. I get to learn new routines and take care of different livestock, get paid to do something I do anyway (take care of animals) and I always get cash or good barters in return.

I'm a full-time RN but I have two part time jobs in addition to that..one is teaching at the local tech college (2-3 times a year so not a lot) and I also work part time at a retail store. The retail gig I've had for over 10 years now!
Definitely not for the money but, like others have said, it uses different parts of your brain, you get a discount, and you get another team of people to work with. They are true "fun jobs." WAY less stressful - part of the enjoyment. Don't go overboard but if you're interested, go for it! (Just don't quit your day job
