I've been a nurse for 3 years and love my job, but only working 3 shifts a week, I find myself with a lot of free time. In college I worked at Starbucks and absolutely loved it, and kind of miss it to be honest. Would it be absolutely insane to get a part time at Starbucks not for the money but for my own enjoyment/sanity?
My day job is management, a fair commute and not super enjoyable. I work for peanuts for 4 hours every week at a local charity. RNs are there for health screening but I spend most of my time helping elderly people with little problems---argue with the cable company for them, fill out online passport applications, talk about their problems. Helps me connect with people in my community as a helper rather than the villainous manager
I used to sell makeup/skincare and do makeovers at a counter in a department store and LOVED my job. I was never stressed and my coworkers and I could sit and talk and make each other over all day.
Some days I think about going back and working there part time/per diem just to have fun and use it as a stress reliever from my nurse job!
Is that totally weird of me?
Understand that money is not the issue, and the part-time job at Starbucks is just to break routine. But why not do something nursing related, like: becoming more educated, picking up classes, or even study to become certified in an area or nursing. In my opinion working at the coffee shop after you have become a nurse seems kind of a waste of time. But this is just my opinion.

Free coffee though.. or discounted!
For me, I'd have to be doing something I either REALLY enjoyed, made more money than I would nursing (ie. escort) or furthering my education.

My coworker (LVN) also worked a side job at a national drug store chain. She had been there many years and had accumulated some retirement so she kept at it.
