PVT IS DEAD! Don't try the "new" trick

Published

The PVT was never meant to happen. It was not some trick invented to give us results before the 48 hour quick results were ready, it was a computer glitch that allowed us the peace of mind of finding out early if we most likely passed. Therefore it is no surprise that PV found a way to fix it. Those of us who are already licensed got lucky. New testers are not likely to have that sort of luck.

There is a new trick circulating that basically says you can still get the good popup if you try to pay. There is a problem with this, if you put in your credit card information and it allows you to pay, there is NO REFUND if you actually passed. The PVT was never 100% accurate, and false fails were more prominent than false passes. So if you put in your CC and it takes it, there is around a 5% chance that you passed and you just paid 200$ for an inaccurate trick.

Those in states that allow quick results will have to wait 48 hours. It is 48 terrible mind numbing frightening hours, but it's worth it not to pay for a new registration. Those in states not participating in quick results, you should call your BON after 48 hours and try to re-register on the phone. They should stop you if you passed.

The trick was a sanity saver for thousands, and it is sad to see it go, but it was inevitable that it was going to eventually get fixed.

UPDATE

As of October 2016, many people are still reporting that the PVT TRICK still works.

Ok - I thought I saw some posts that folks are getting the cc page (after submitting) and some getting the "good pop up" . Sounds like everyone hitting submit will get the good pop up then whether they passed or failed... Thanks for confirming

I was definitely planning on NCSBN's 8 week program. You also suggest the Saunders flashcards then?

I just don't want to spend more $ then necessary. However, I have already spent tons to take the NCLEX. Thank you for your input, I'm going to look into Saunders too.

The KAPLAN REVIEW was included in our tuition. Yes, we did pay for it but with our school, so I never saw the price of the program. I graduated from an accredited BSN program in MAY. I have been emailing a Kaplan expert talking about the exam before I failed it again. Are you saying they may refund me?

Thank you for all of your help!

Correct, I do not qualify. I just checked the site. The first time I took the NCLEX I did not take all the question trainers and review like I should have.

Everyone will have a different experience with what study sources worked for them. If you study any of them correctly I think most will work. But with this in mind I will say that HURST worked for me, and I studied it EXACTLY as directed with success of passing the RN NCLEX with 75 questions on the first try (mind you I was a B average in nursing school).

Oh, and my State BON (Washington) had my results within 4 hours, so no need to pay the quick check fee. I'm sure every state is different though. The best advice I can give is to STUDY very hard how your preferred study guide instructs you then just wait it out to find the results. I didn't do very many questions other then the Q-review tests that Hurst offered, I think doing 1000's of questions is pointless because the chance of actually getting one of these questions on your test is pretty slim and remembering it are 2 different things. Your better off spending your time going OVER and over nursing fundamentals.

The thing is, most people do questions as a review to determine WHAT their weaknesses are, NOT to memorize questions  the key is to understand, recognize, and analyze, and apply.

People can determine if they have issues with psychosocial and/or physiological integrity, safety and/or health promotion by question review; then it is up to the individual to study, review whatever source they choose, in order to understand that concept; it will be imperative for them to understand that concept and be able to transform that into practice post NCLEX.

Understanding the basic fundamentals of what and how an entry level nurse thinks and decides what actions to take is the reason for the boards in the first place; and determine the best answer can be achieved by understanding the questions set forth, whatever the individual decides to use as a source is entirely up to them, but at least question review is the application of the concepts; that has a great weight in assisting the individual to determine what their challenges are and greatly help target the individual to remediate before taking the exam and transitioning to entry level practice.

Agreed.

Although I agree somewhat cautiously. Be sure to get a detailed report of your performance. I found some areas on ATI that I supposedly struggled with, I normally get correct. Then I looked closely and saw only one or two questions were focused on the topics where I performed poorly. I saw the correct answers and rationales and was able to gain confidence because I was just n idiot on those specific questions. Overall, I'm comfortable with those areas. (I believe safety was one of the topics. I'm pretty good at not injuring or killing people.)

(Usually.)

(That was a disclaimer only so I don't jinx myself.)

It seems pretty clear you have no idea WHY doing all those questions are recommended, which surprises me greatly. I haven't heard of ANYONE (who passed the test) who didn't get this....and it has absolutely zilch to do with memorizing a question in case it comes up on their test!

We could get phone results' in September in 1982. I had an USAF scholarship riding on passing. I was down on my knees in fervent hope when I heard her say 'pass'.

No phone call for us back then. We just about tackled the mail man though. Our wait time was approx 6-8 weeks, sooo shorter than yours.

I had a good friend accidentally show up on day two instead of day one. She had to wait until the next cycle to test. She was naturally devastated.

I payed the 7.95 for my unofficial results this morning. I PASSED. I assume the PVT isnt always accurate. Im curious to know if pearson will actually accept the credit card payment if someone has passed.

I just found out I passed the NCLEX RN. I took it Thursday August 28th. My status on the website never changed to "delivery successful", it was always "results not available" until exactly 48 hours after I finished the test. Therefore, when I tried the PVT it never worked because my status was never delivery successful. Today, I logged on the quick results were availably so I paid the $8 for the them, and it was seriously the best $8 I have ever spent. The past 2 days I was going insane because I couldn't figure out why my status never changed and why I couldn't do the PVT. I still don't know haha. But I figured I would post in case this happens to anyone else. I did end up passing in 110 questions, so hang tight for 48 hours after your test!!

CONGRATS RN!!! Enjoy the next chapter in life!

I was so relieved finding this doesn't work anymore!! Took the NCLEX Friday and it shut off around 210 and I swear I got the last one right! I was heartbroken that I got the CC page until I learned the glitch was fixed! My status says my results are not available so I'm hoping to get good news around 3pm today and will def pay the $7.95 I thought for sure I failed but there is still hope!!!
