The PVT was never meant to happen. It was not some trick invented to give us results before the 48 hour quick results were ready, it was a computer glitch that allowed us the peace of mind of finding out early if we most likely passed. Therefore it is no surprise that PV found a way to fix it. Those of us who are already licensed got lucky. New testers are not likely to have that sort of luck.
There is a new trick circulating that basically says you can still get the good popup if you try to pay. There is a problem with this, if you put in your credit card information and it allows you to pay, there is NO REFUND if you actually passed. The PVT was never 100% accurate, and false fails were more prominent than false passes. So if you put in your CC and it takes it, there is around a 5% chance that you passed and you just paid 200$ for an inaccurate trick.
Those in states that allow quick results will have to wait 48 hours. It is 48 terrible mind numbing frightening hours, but it's worth it not to pay for a new registration. Those in states not participating in quick results, you should call your BON after 48 hours and try to re-register on the phone. They should stop you if you passed.
The trick was a sanity saver for thousands, and it is sad to see it go, but it was inevitable that it was going to eventually get fixed.

UPDATE
As of October 2016, many people are still reporting that the PVT TRICK still works.
Will you please stop spreading the lies! There have now been at least two people who've come here and said that they paid $200 but later found out they passed! If you passed, it's no guarantee the system won't take your money. And it's nonrefundable, so I hope you can afford to waste $200.
Honestly....just wait 48 hours and only pay $8.

And/or check your state's BON license verification website.

I suspect that the "new" PVT is just as accurate as the "old" PVT was. The big change is that the new process essentially has you submitting payment for a new exam and if your results as of the moment you submitted payment has you as "pass" it intercepts and stops the payment from processing. I would imagine that everyone that ended up paying $200 and later passed probably "failed" the exam at the first scoring and later the 2nd scoring determined they'd passed. Remember, the opposite is also very true... but if you try the PVT and you initially pass but later fail, you might not find out for a little while.
I would suggest that people that want to try the new PVT wait at least 24 hours and be ready/willing/able to afford to spend $200 to take the exam again. If your State participates in the Quick Results, you'd be better off to wait the 48 hours and pay for that because that will be accurate, even though it's "unofficial". My license popped up 35 hours after I took the exam, so even if my State did participate in Quick Results, it wouldn't have mattered...
@j_lynn34 for me it always said results not available and it never switched to delivery successful, it just told me I was able to purchase the quick results, I am in MA where they offer the quick results for $8. I was reading other posts where it would change to delivery successful right after they finished the exam, I was posting in case other people never saw the change in status. Mine became available to purchase exactly 48 hours after I completed the exam. Good luck!!
thank you!
Hello everyone, I took my exam on Saturday August 30 2014 had 75 questions with 85 to 90% select all that apply. I felt defeated it was pretty hard. When I got home I did the original trick and it took me to the credit card part, I was devastated. ? I cried for a few hours then I talked to one of my friends who is already a RN to see what would hapoen and they were able to get to credit card page also. I decided that i was just going to go ahead and put my info in. So I did it and pressed submit and I got a box telling me that I can't schedule because I have something scheduled already. Looking on this forum that seem like a good sign. ? At least i m praying it is. I have a friend that took it the same day and same time and input her credit card info and It told her insufficient fund. What does that mean.? I also used a card that didn't have enough money. I will update later after quick results are ready to see how it work out for me
