The PVT was never meant to happen. It was not some trick invented to give us results before the 48 hour quick results were ready, it was a computer glitch that allowed us the peace of mind of finding out early if we most likely passed. Therefore it is no surprise that PV found a way to fix it. Those of us who are already licensed got lucky. New testers are not likely to have that sort of luck.
There is a new trick circulating that basically says you can still get the good popup if you try to pay. There is a problem with this, if you put in your credit card information and it allows you to pay, there is NO REFUND if you actually passed. The PVT was never 100% accurate, and false fails were more prominent than false passes. So if you put in your CC and it takes it, there is around a 5% chance that you passed and you just paid 200$ for an inaccurate trick.
Those in states that allow quick results will have to wait 48 hours. It is 48 terrible mind numbing frightening hours, but it's worth it not to pay for a new registration. Those in states not participating in quick results, you should call your BON after 48 hours and try to re-register on the phone. They should stop you if you passed.
The trick was a sanity saver for thousands, and it is sad to see it go, but it was inevitable that it was going to eventually get fixed.

UPDATE
As of October 2016, many people are still reporting that the PVT TRICK still works.
Will you please stop spreading the lies! There have now been at least two people who've come here and said that they paid $200 but later found out they passed! If you passed, it's no guarantee the system won't take your money. And it's nonrefundable, so I hope you can afford to waste $200.Honestly....just wait 48 hours and only pay $8.
And there have been a lot of people who get the 'good' popup after hitting submit who have failed. I'm starting to think that no matter what it does, people aren't going to listen. 48 hours seems like an eternity, but in reality it is not that long! Some BONs post way earlier than that!
Except that at least two people have reported here on AN that exactly that DID happen to them! Why risk $200 on a trick when you can know for sure in 48 hours for only $8?! I don't understand you people.....
It is the feeling of "I have a right to know right now" that people get from doing all the q banks and getting results right away. It is a little bit insane in my opinion!
There are still people leaving the test centers who ask the staffers for results even though the rules page specifically states that they have no access to results. We were told by a frazzled staffer before the test that "we do not get to see the results, and we cannot accept money for getting your results because we do not have them" so apparently some testers have gone so far as to offer bribes!

is is that actually true?
can anybody name names?
while there may be instances where someone was charged erroneously, unless there was a big No Refunds! disclaimer, they would have to refund as they can't retain funds paid for a service they have no intention of providing.

PV does not approve any tricks. The tricks are all computer glitches and no one at PV will ever tell you to go ahead and try it. There are no refunds, that part is true, but they are not accepting funds for something they have no intention of providing--the system does not know at that point if you pass or fail so it allows you to register if you want to do so.

There is a big no refund disclaimer that you must agree to when you click submit.

Scaredsilly--I totally disagree with your comment. Where do you get the your %5 chance rating from??
There are many links that give the CORRECT information regarding the CURRENT "trick" as of AUGUST 26th, 2014. The Pearson Vue website has changed in regards to how you can check the "trick" pass or fail. You do have to input your credit card info, and press SUBMIT, and be willing to have your cc charged in you did in fact fail.
I took mine nclex RN this labor day weekend, AUG 30th at 8am. MY second time taking it. It shut off at 105 questions, about 75% SATA, no peds, no calculations, no labs, no ekg, a lot of who would you see first. Once I got home, the "old" trick did not work as it took me to the credit card page, but my husband googled that Pearson Vue has changed the trick 2 days prior! So with that, I did put my cc info, clicked SUBMIT, and I got the good pop up! But with all the new changes I was not sure to believe this 100%. Sooooo....
You DO get your results in 48hrs, even if it is a holiday weekend! This morning I payed the $7.95 and got my unofficial results. I PASSED!!!
Hope this information will help future nclex takers and puts their minds at ease :)
