PVT IS DEAD! Don't try the "new" trick

Published

The PVT was never meant to happen. It was not some trick invented to give us results before the 48 hour quick results were ready, it was a computer glitch that allowed us the peace of mind of finding out early if we most likely passed. Therefore it is no surprise that PV found a way to fix it. Those of us who are already licensed got lucky. New testers are not likely to have that sort of luck.

There is a new trick circulating that basically says you can still get the good popup if you try to pay. There is a problem with this, if you put in your credit card information and it allows you to pay, there is NO REFUND if you actually passed. The PVT was never 100% accurate, and false fails were more prominent than false passes. So if you put in your CC and it takes it, there is around a 5% chance that you passed and you just paid 200$ for an inaccurate trick.

Those in states that allow quick results will have to wait 48 hours. It is 48 terrible mind numbing frightening hours, but it's worth it not to pay for a new registration. Those in states not participating in quick results, you should call your BON after 48 hours and try to re-register on the phone. They should stop you if you passed.

The trick was a sanity saver for thousands, and it is sad to see it go, but it was inevitable that it was going to eventually get fixed.

UPDATE

As of October 2016, many people are still reporting that the PVT TRICK still works.

Abaynestone did you try paying and submitting your cc info?

Hi, today I took my NCLEX, it shut off at 87 and i have mixed feelings. I tried the Pearson Vue Trick (PVT) and im confused. Ive heard about the "good pop up" and not being allowed to proceed to the credit card screen. I was able to proceed to the credit card screen but and put in my credit card information HOWEVER when i click submit I get a pop up that says "Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Another registration cannot be made at this time". It wont let me make the payment but it did have me into the credit card screen. From what Ive read on different blogs, being able to proceed to the credit card screen is bad..... Im hoping pearson has changed the trick slightly..

Has anyone else had this experience with the PVT? Anxiety is building and building.....

From what I am ready, Pearson updated their website and the trick no longer works.... And I would avoid clicking submit, no refunds if it goes through!

There are like 100 threads about this already. The PVT is dead. Its officially gone. EVERYONE goes to the cc screen. So far no one has been allowed to pay. There is ZERO evidence that this new pop up means anything.

Actually, I read ONE post where a girl's card was declined because of insufficient funds when she tried the new PVT. I don't know if it's on this board or another. I've been scouring the internet on this subject to help calm my nerves. So, maybe pearson will allow you to pay if you failed. I used a cc with insufficient funds and it wouldn't let me re-register since I was already scheduled. I hope to know in an hour if I passed or failed with quick results. I'm certain I failed but so far everyone who has tried the new PVT and they couldn't submit a payment has passed. *crosses fingers*

BOOPONBACK

I have already signed up for the NCLEX again. I paid the $7.95 to see the quick results and it said fail and so I immediately signed up to retake the exam. :-/

I used KAPLAN to study before.

has anyone used the NCSBN'S program???

What other programs are suggested? I have done some research and seen that Saunders, Kaplan and NCSBN are popular. Kaplan didn't do too much for me as you can tell.

Did you pay for Kaplan? if so, you need to contact them.

I used Saunders Flash cards which broke down the test in the four aspects of NCLEX-which is four concepts that one must master for licensure; more about that later.

I also used NCSBN-from the makers of NCLEX, which has a VERy comprehensive program; they cover everything that's entailed in which they also provide sources and links to rationales; as well as review if one needs it for a particular area.

Start to understand the four concepts of becoming a competent, entry-level nurse:

1. Safe, effective care;

2.Health promotion;

3.Physiological Integrity;

4.Psychosocial integrity

Will determine WHAT the question is asking you; the question may be Respiratory related-but is it a Health Promotion or a Safety, or a Physiological or a Psychosocial one? Would you know the difference and choose the BEST answer?

Once one understands the concepts of NCLEX, they can answer the questions successfully.

Kaplan guarantee is only for graduates of accredited US nursing schools for the first attempt at NCLEX within 3-6 months graduation from nursing school. The guarantee does not apply to IENs or those on 2nd or later attempt at NCLEX

I took mine Monday and did the same thing and it said the same thing. I passes. Another guy on here did the same thing and passed. Haven't heard anyone getting charged yet so maybe coincidence? It might be a good sign though! Good luck! Remember we all feel horrible after that exam. I bawled my eyes out knowing I failed. But as of Tuesday I'm a RN. Stay positive!

The old PVT is dead. The new one risks $200 right now if you have failed. The up side is that if you pass, it won't complete the payment on the card.

If you submit your cc number and risk the $200 and get the "good pop" up message are folks feeling its fairly accurate? I took a chance, input my cc# and hit submit and got what might be the "good pop up". "Our records indicate you have recently scheduled this exam another registration cannot be made at this time"... Of course, I will wait for official results from the Board of Nursing (I'm in California)

So far everyone is getting the "good pop up" whether they pass or fail. It is a standard response to trying to register for a test that is not yet reviewed.
