It's hard not to feel at least a bit of we-told-you-so, but at the same time he has high risk comorbidities and this is a real threat to his life, so I hope he gets through this OK.

Somehow, I'm not surprised. He won't wear a mask and he holds huge rallies, some of them in enclosed areas, where everyone is in close contact and most don't wear masks either. Still, I don't wish ill on him, even if he has been reckless and foolish. I hope he and Melania will be OK.

I am not surprised one bit.
What was he thinking not wearing a mask most of the time? Were none of his advisors a bit smarter than him?

Definitely some schadenfreude. I honestly don't wish this on anyone but have you noticed that of all the world leaders the only three who caught it are Trump, Johnson and Bolsonaro. All of them Covid down-players.

According to Trump no-one is smarter than him so why would he listen?
On May 8, 2013, Donald Trump took to Twitter to explain his superiority to "the haters," writing:
"Sorry losers and haters, but my I.Q. is one of the highest -and you all know it! Please don't feel so stupid or insecure, it's not your fault."

I wear a mask when out all the time. While out I see A LOT of people half A wearing their masks.
Wearing a mask greatly reduces your chances, it doesnt 100% prevent your chances.

Meh
Trump is a liar. For all we know they're lying about this to allow him to skip the next debate and throw around propaganda about how the virus isn't dangerous at all.
