A nurse asked me last night about my plans for my white Danskos after school, and I hadn't really thought about it. I'm kinda thinking I may have an artist friend of mine ink them up for me, but I wanted to hear what you guys have done or plan to do as well! My shirts I likely won't wear again (since the patches have been there awhile now), but my pants I will (ours are blue, not white). I don't want to wear white shoes after school, but I don't want to waste nice shoes! One nurse said a friend of hers planned to have them dyed, but she never heard how they turned out or how much it cost.

I have been out of school about 9 months now and have considered having my white Dansko's inked or dyed but haven't done it. Would love for you to update if you do it!

I keep joking with my classmates that we should plan a uniform burning ceremony when we're done with the program...LOL :) You know, it's funny. Before I started the program, all I wanted was to be able to wear those blue uniforms and be in "the club" :D

As far as shoes go, I have all white sneakers that I wear. I didn't want to invest in Danskos until I have a job and can get the color I want. I can't stand solid white shoes!

Our ASN president mentioned getting everyone to sign his top, like a yearbook kind of thing. We won't ever wear those again because it has our school's name and nursing student sewn on the front.

I gave my tops to a single mother who was on a tight budget and tossed the pants because they looked grubby. The mom also received a couple pair of still respectable looking pants too. How I wanted to build a bonfire and burn everything!

LPN school - 1977. White 100% cotton calf-length dresses and grey pinafores. Night time graduation, followed by a 100% cotton bonfire in the parking lot. We cheered when it was lit.

I wish I was as bad ass as meanmaryjean but I am too sentimental.

I will probably keep one set of pants/top in a box somewhere in my house. I will pull them out throughout my life to recall how unfashionable they are.

I donated my uniform to our nursing student association. They give them to students who are on tight budgets. The shoes were all worn out. Trashed those and got myself a pair of nice ones for graduation.

What about those polyester knit yellow pinafores! :arghh: I hated that thing. I still have my cap though

OP some facilities still require white shoes so I would hesitate before getting rid of them.

I still have to have support white panty hose under my scrubs and white shoes...old habits die hard

I wish I could give my scrubs to another student, but our program decided to change colors next semester. Those of us who started with blue will continue with blue. The new students will have black scrubs. So, it's bye-bye to royal blue forever when we're done :)
