  1. A Tom Swifty is when the verb or adverb matches the topic of the sentence. It is a parody of bad writing, a joke. Fun game. These are mine. My cardiologist is great, Tom said, heartily. Doc, I need a nebulizer, Tom gasped. You broke your leg, Tom. The doctor cràcked. Tom, please get undressed over there, the nurse barely said Who goes on break first? Let's toss a coin, Tom said, flippantly. What are your examples? Related or unrelated to health.
  2. I have found that no return call means that they have no answer yet, or possibly negative, that position is filled or something is pending. No one calls to say that they don't know. Just wait. Atmost, you might email someone, politely.
  3. If you are discreet about it, then how would employers know? If you use insurance, then it shows up, eventually. Seek your therapy away from where you work, privately if you are worried about someone knowing. Leave no paper trail on records. People may misinterpret or misconstrue your attempts for counseling. Play it very safe is my advice. Use another email account, if they ask you, another phone.
  4. Regular nurses are doing similar stuff on the internet, but this is most flagrant display I know about.
  5. I misspelled. And meant cystoscopy...in my large metroarea few NPs and females are in urology, .
  6. Yes, that is the question. Are they trained and do cystotomy? Or does it depend on the NP
  7. Are nurse practitioners in urology qualified to do check up procedures for patients who had bladder cancer and/or kidney stone operations (but are clear of that since)? Physicians do cystocomies, but am curious if female NPs also do with men? They don't answer their phones and I'd like your understanding on this.
  8. Not a nurse, but your post looks like it is time to quit. Easy to say try another area or setting, but who hires 58 year old nurses? Isn't there age discrimination, as with most occupations? Well, maybe not in eldercare.
  9. I don't know, but it depends the reason for your probation. No one comments without knowing more about you.
  10. Did the patient nod her head at all? That is consent. Implied. I, a man,was in a hospital post surgery, when a nurse walked in , and asked to see my back side butt, I nodded, as I was barely awake. I didn't care. She didn't say the reason. Something odd about her smile.
  11. One nurse said on the forum "I didn't hear anyone call me!". No joke.
  12. I am better at giving advice on decisions than making decisions. One common way is using numbers to rate taking the new job, or staying where you are. Evaluateyour reasons and feelings 1 to 10, fairly. The unpleasant hours vs benefits of new job, over keeping current job. The nights would disturb your sleep too much? But if you are young and flexible, maybe you can endure it. Only you can decide. So many things to consider so list them in order of importance, with numbers and add up pro and con . I am not a math person, but I do it myself . Can you take job for 1 year or modify the hours?
  13. I changed my mind. I messaged her and turns out she uses an inhaler. So it is a precarious situation. I would wear a mask and stand far away from it. It is 15 minutes.
  14. I asked my PCP doctor to remove a very old,and I think, false diagnosis of a psychological issue from my online record and she agreed. I asked her again and she said yes. Two years later I discovered that she did not. She lied it appears. In fact she updated it under" resolved. ". Not acceptable to me, and I am thinking of changing docs, except I am otherwise satisfied with her and the convenient clinic. I also think that the medical assistants have access to records. Your opinion?
  15. Serious reprimand is due. Big mistake made.
