What I see since coming here is that it looks like the US needs a repeat of the French revolution or something...get rid of all of them and start over from scratch! Maybe if politicians were a bit more scared of the people they wouldn't screw them over as much!

The EMR requirement which they claim is causing them to lay off staff is actually from the HiTECH act, not Obamacare (ACA), and was developed under the Bush administration. I find it very hard to believe that any hospital or healthcare related company doesn't know the difference between the HiTECH act and the ACA.

I typically find that use of the term "Obamacare" indicates political disapproval of everything related to President Obama and Democrats and that statements with its inclusion are rarely objective.

So, President Obama disapproves of himself? He said he likes the term Obamacare and is fine with its use. Or did you miss that?

I am sick of the nasty, dismissive attitude people who are opposed to the ACA get around here. Posters here accused the OP of having no critical thinking skills, and then when she quoted the article where the health system openly and directly stated that ACA is part of the reason for the layoffs, all she got were more dismissive comments.

If you all are the "tolerant" crowd, I'd hate to see the mean ones.

I won't blame the Dems or Reps....if anyone is dumb enough to think that any politician is out for any cause other than their own pocket lining activity, they are sadly fooling only themselves. This country has been in a mess for a long time (I'm thinking since the great depression, and the programs that followed in the 30's and 40's), and all these jokers voted in since have only added their own agendas, and we the sheeple only keep voting them back in to keep putting it to us. Or worse yet, many don't vote at all. I somedays wish for a massive uprising, where someone would have the cojones to run off the rabble. If only it could be that easy.....

You may find yourself in much worse straits if a Reep president follows.

Do you really think that people like Paul Ryan, working with a Reep House of Reps, wouldn't have funding for programs like FHA housing on their whack lists?

I'm no fan of the current administration but I fear a drastic shift to the right will decimate people like yourself.

I live in an FHA funded housing apt. Since the new government regulations have taken effect, we (all seniors and disabled people who live on fixed incomes) are now being charged for anything that's damaged. My dishwasher panel (a tiny strip that comes with adhesive on the back of it) was replaced today. I have been charged $36.81 for that thing. Here we are, the poor people now paying for items we did't have to pay for in the past since this president took office all because a budget hasn't yet been put in place. :madface: I can't stand Mr Obama or his wife. The sooner they get out the better.

Wow, since when has a dishwasher become an entitlement? I'm technically in the "elderly" category washing dishes by hand isn't a big deal. It wasn't that long ago that no one had dishwashers and we all survived quite nicely.

Guess whose kid is going to be able to go see a doctor now because of Obama care? Oh...would that be my kid? I think it would! Previously unable to get health insurance because the enormous costs because he is a cancer survivor...he is covered now at the same cost as perfectly healthy kid! Say what you like.... I am glad of Obama care!

Congrats on your little boy beating cancer, that's amazing! And I'm glad he can now get health insurance. This right here is why the ACA was out in place

Right, because who would ever imagine that starting a thread about a hot button political issue could possibly lead to dissenting opinions. "Thanks to Obamacare" is a deliberately provocative way of titling the thread.

People are dismissive of all the claims that nurses are being laid off due to Obamacare because it's a claim that's obvious propaganda.

I seem to recall the job market for nurses slowing down long before Obama was in office. These layoffs would have happened anyway. Of course the company is siting Obamacare as a reason. They'd site the price of silver in France as a reason if they thought they could get away with it. They're just trying to shift the attention.

Where did you even get the idea it ever should have been free in the first place? Good grief. Of course you should have to pay for your tiny strip that comes with adhesive on the back. It is yours, it's in your apartment. What the heck? If I want a tiny strip that comes with adhesive on the back I'd have to pay for it too. duh.

And here is what really REALLY confuses the heck out of me.

It is disappointing to me that Americans are such suckers for any clumsy and silly propaganda. The examples of a large percentage of Americans being fooled by silly propaganda that any critical thinker should have been able to see through quickly are numerous. In the recent past we have the American invasion of Iraq, supported by 80+% of the sheep, er..... I mean people , right up to the supposed nursing shortage.

It has been very disappointing to learn that for the most part, Americans are gullible and unsophisticated.

Just because the management of the hospital system said it, that doesn't make it true. There are people in the US who claim that we've never gone to the moon and all the photos were faked on a Hollywood movie set -- does that make that true? I saw a right-wing e-mail a few years ago that claimed that Obama spent several years as a drug mule, smuggling heroin into the US from Pakistan. Should I just assume that's true because someone with a political axe to grind typed it into a computer and hit "send"? I've heard hospital administrators over the years say lots of things that were demonstrably not true -- they're just hoping no one will actually look into whether the statements are true or not, and will take their word for it. That's the "critical thinking" issue -- do you take everything someone else says at face value, or do you make some effort to determine for yourself the validity of the statement?
