Nurses and Coffee

Published

I know this is random, but I was just sitting here thinking about coffee...then I started to wonder if any nurses out there like coffee and starbucks as much as I do :) I know a lot of nurses have to work crazy hours, and I was just wondering if you need coffee to function at those odd hours.

If you do like coffee/starbucks, what's your favorite drink from there?

I too am a coffe-aholic, I have a 4 cup personal pot in the break room as I type, at home I am a firm believer that the inventer of the Kuerig should hold a place of honor in the gadget inventor's hall of fame :lol2:

Oh, I've wanted a Kuerig for so long!

My love's parents gave him one & I'm jealous, but every time I'm at his house I hang around it very closely. :lol2: :p

Oh I refuse to pay $4-5 for a cup of coffee. Starbucks is good..but nothing I would kill for. I just buy Maxwell or Folgers (anything on sale) and make it fresh in the morning..a scoop of brown sugar and a couple drops of milk...I'm good to go! As nursing student (esp. in this horrid economy), I am definitely all about saving money. I rarely EVER pay for coffee somewhere. Coffee is about a dime, per cup, to make..it makes me cringe paying much more for it lol.

When my husband and I were in nursing school, we spent 25% of our income (not expendable income, but total income) at Starbucks. Granted, we fell below the poverty level those two years ;)

We take turns bringing Folgers to work (cheap a$$ hospital stopped providing coffee for the coffee pot in the breakroom). Another nurse at work got me hooked on Coffee Mate Coconut Cream liquid creamer. It's AWESOME... I call it my version of crack. I go through withdrawals without it. Lol. Now everyone's hooked on it. You can usually find at least 6 bottles of it in the break room fridge at any given time.

I know it's all overpriced huff and puffery at Starbucks but I do truly love the experience of stopping by and getting a tall non-fat Caramel Machiatto. From the warm lighting and friendly staff to that first perfect sip of foam, followed by bitter espresso and wrapped up in a warm, sticky taste of caramel.

Yum.

I think it stems from quiet afternoons in the late 90's in coffee houses. This was right after my parents divorced (I was about 16 and drank a lot of hot chocolate then) and my mom was working on her masters degree in a small college town.

PS. I don't own a coffee pot, do not drink coffee at work from the regular pot. I am strictly a cup a day/4-5 cups a week Starbucks gal.

Doesn't matter where, as long as I get my coffee. Just a cup to perk up my day.

No. Don't like it at all. I worked nights for 13 years and never drank any. Just can not stand the taste, and adding milk, sugar or other flavors don't help it at all.

Sbx is too expensive so I like the Iced Coffee from McDonalds!! Hazelnut! YUM

A nice, hot cup of tea anyone?

Outside of airports and casinos, where are people finding $5 cups of Starbucks coffee? The most expensive cup of coffee I've seen there was $2.25, including tax. Espresso drinks can run up to $5.

Used to be a cup a day. Now I got the poor boyfriend making the 3rd pot today. :lol2: :uhoh3:

He lives on it too, though.

I esp. love it when studying.
