  1. The whole "college life" doesn't really excite me, like kids my age. I don't want to be a broke college kid, +& I don't want to live with my mom forever. But she also told me to do the BSN while I'm still young. So if I wanted to move out before I'm done with college, could I support myself on an STNA salary?
  2. At my local community college, pre-reqs are about a year, then the program itself is two years. Add in the long waiting list, and it takes about four years for a two year degree.
  3. I really want to be a nurse, and I was thinking about becoming an LPN. I'm a senior in HS, and one day I would like to become an RN. But I'm ready to start a career, and I honestly don't want to do another four years of school yet. I like the idea of being an LPN, but everyone expects me to go the BSN route. I know RN's make more, but I'm young, and I don't have any kids, so I should be ok.....so basically, I'm worried about everyone thinking I'm taking the easy way out, and doing LPN. Because the people around me think degrees make the world spin. What should I do? Is LPN a good career choice for a 18/19 year old?
  4. Well I know this may sound silly, but I'm under the impression that all nurses do is work. By the time I finish nursing school I'll be 21/22, which is still pretty young. I'm afraid I won't have time to do fun things any more, and I'll just be a workaholic, living a sad lonely life [lol]. So when you're not working, what kind of things do you do? Are you able to live a comfortable lifestyle? How old are you? These are just things I happen to be thinking about.
  5. I really wanna be an RN. I just need to decide on where to get it from! I realized an ADN will take 3 years, not 2 because of the pre-reqs. Will a BSN take 4 or 5 years? If it only takes 4, should I just go on and do the extra year to get a bachelor's degree?
  6. I had a vanilla latte mccafe from mcdonald's yesterday :) it was pretty good.
  7. I love both of those :) All the starbucks are kind of far from my house, so I get really happy whenever I'm near one. I'm always near a Caribou or a cute little coffee shop. And sometimes I make my own with the powdered mix. Some of them are actually pretty good. I couldn't make it through high school without a cappucino or latte, so I know I'll need it when I start college in the fall.
  8. I know this is random, but I was just sitting here thinking about coffee...then I started to wonder if any nurses out there like coffee and starbucks as much as I do :) I know a lot of nurses have to work crazy hours, and I was just wondering if you need coffee to function at those odd hours. If you do like coffee/starbucks, what's your favorite drink from there?
  9. Ok, thanks for the help.
  10. I didn't take the ACT, lol. I figured if I'm going to community college, what's the point? I took algebra 1 and 2, geometry, and a semester of pre-calc during high school. I graduate in june :)
  11. I go on vacation every summer, so i won't be here for the summer semester. So do I need a whole year of pre-reqs or just a semester?
  12. I start at tri-c this fall for my pre-reqs...do you think I'll be able to get into the fall 2011 program? I don't want to have to wait until 2012
  13. I wish I could start this fall I start fall 2011.
