Nurses and Coffee

Published

I know this is random, but I was just sitting here thinking about coffee...then I started to wonder if any nurses out there like coffee and starbucks as much as I do :) I know a lot of nurses have to work crazy hours, and I was just wondering if you need coffee to function at those odd hours.

If you do like coffee/starbucks, what's your favorite drink from there?

Loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees me a good cup-o-joe!

Most often, its Stop & Shop brand Expresso (for those of us who are New Englander's), with just a bit of cream and one splenda. When I shell out, its Dunkin, hands down. Especially during the fall-I do love their Pumpkin Spice flavor shot in my medium regular!

Ghirardelli makes some good coffee too. We usually find it at Home Goods.

Its funny because I luv luv luv luv the smell of fresh coffee in the morning- any kind is fine but I don't like to drink it as much as I like to smell it. I have maybe a cup every other month.

I'm a folgers gal, I like cheap, good tasting coffee. I buy, when I'm in the mood to spend a little more, organic fairly local roasted blends and grind 'em up at home. That's like ten bucks a bag compared to four for folgers, not bad. Still pretty cheap by the cup. Sugar and condensed milk make my taste buds happy :-)

I can NOT abide instant coffee. Maxwell house, sanka, tasters choice should all be discontinued. I did used to do the little tea bags of coffee before my husband started drinking it, because I wouldn't buy a pot just for me. Now we do 1/3 pot per day at our house. I'm strictly a two-cup person per day, and it needs to taste good but not break the bank.

We also like hot chocolate, and I like any herbal tea with cinnamon in it. Other than the coffee, there's a soda per week now, am trying to cut back on caffeine and in particular things which completely rot my teeth. It's really hard drinking a liter of water per shift, with only a cup of coffee around 0100. I know the AM dr. pepper and cookies are not good for me, but I wants them.

AAAHHHH coffee, the lifeline, & addiction of nurses. I bring a lg coffee to work w/ me every day. I work the 3-11 shift and it takes me through the whole shift, however, I think I would bring one no matter what shift I worked. Is it an addiction, can we train our bodies to drink water instead, and would that water be as satisfying as the coffee? I am thinking not. I am not fond of Starbucks (sorry to those SB lovers), it's just not my cup of joe. Most of the nurses on my floor usually have a coffee in hand when they arrive. To me it's just something I must have. YUM!:D

I live in the land of Starbucks.... Washington state and coffee shops and shacks are on every corner. I am not too crazy about Starbucks but Tullys is the best and also about any cup of Joe from any coffee shop. We have no sun... We drink it like water and I work nights so I really need it. :)

I am not a nurse, but I am a soon to be nursing student.I dont drink coffee, but people say I will soon enough. No offense to coffee drinkers, its just to bitter ;) I prefer the double chocolate chip frappucino,cream-based.I could drink a venti of that stuff everyday.I have sometimes!:)

Coffee.....ewwwww!! I maybe drink 1 cup a year if that. I love the smell of it but I hate the taste.

Living near Seattle, it's almost unheard-of not to love coffee and I love mine. I prefer the Dancing Goats blend out of Olympia myself.
