Nurse week, scavenger hunt

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I am on the nurse week committee planning activities this year. We are planning a scavenger hunt, when you find the item you will post your find to our Facebook page. I am considering having them "find" people from support departments It, environmental, good service ect. But what other things could i have them find? Or do?

Specializes in Pediatrics, Pediatric Float, PICU, NICU.

The best nurses week appreciation "gift" I ever received was a free 10 minute massage while at work. It was a legit massage too; they had professionals come in and set up an empty conference room in our emergency center and brought in massage chairs, had battery candles, aromatherapy, and everything else needed to really set the mood. The best part was they had an extra nurse on hand for that two hour window to cover every single nurse so that we could all truly get away for a full ten minutes, and it honestly was heaven.

The bouncy trampoline jump house!!! Brilliant idea. Simply love it. The vision of a bunch of overweight colleagues jumping around in one of these things is priceless. I wonder is they have a heavy-duty model?

Oh yea! We could have a table right outside the bounce house with a couple dozen boxes of ortho glass; splint em up and send back to work - after all it's all about us.

Love your thinking Old Dude!!!

You should be an executive in medicine and a zillionaire. First we need to create a crisis then we need to offer a solution to it. In the many thousands of years that humans have been alive on the planet they were taught to believe that pain, anxiety, depression and aging were normal parts of life. Not so anymore!!! There is lots of cash to be made in pharmaceutical and medical interventions to these "problems". Don't believe me??? Turn on the TV for a few minutes and you will see all kind of "solutions" to these issues. In this case there is money to be made due to the many ortho issues of the bouncy house!!! Think of the myriad of income streams from surgery, hospital stays, the giant pile of meds needed for life, PT, OT and of course counseling. Its kind of like the pill they advertise on tv now that will allow long term opioid users to poop!!! Brilliant!!! Old Dude this could transcend medicine and money. You too could be the next inhabitant of the White House after a reality TV run. Think of the perks!!! Interesting haircuts and Mediao girlfriends among them

It doesn't even have to be Nurses' Week to be cause for celebration for other departments. Somebody brings us donuts and housekeeping swipes most of them.

Oh yeah!!! The pony rides and bouncy house are appropriate for all seasons. Why confine the fun to one week a year? Life's too darn short

The true gift is the extra nurse so everyone can get away. If the extra nurse was factored in, I'd even do the scavenger hunt with the clown to look for bottles of Jim Beam. Or ride the pony. Not sure about the bouncy castle, though.

Scavenger Hunt for Jim Beam? I'm in

How about the wonderful cheerleader nurse group photos that I often see during Nurses Week? I'm sure we would all love to have the opportunity to be photographed in this way. Professional dignity is for people like doctors.

Our hospital makes a video of all the nurses dancing to a popular song every year... and then it plays on the patient channel on the TVs for YEARS. I'd rather saw my arm off with a spoon.

I'd go with gift cards to the local liquor store.

Great idea, OldDude!

Then maybe you could give some of your coupons!

Are you kidding me? The funny and I think sad part is some nurses are so, so eager to please and get a pat on the head they are probably tripping over each other to be included. Our mascot should be a golden retriever
