"Nurse's discretion"
Translation: we have no intention of giving you any guidance, so you're on your own, but if a family member doesn't like something you said or did, we're totally going to yell at you.
What I hear regularly from two of my CNAs...
"I forgot."
Really? You "forgot" to provide oral care to the actively dying mouth breathing man with a RR of 54? You "forgot" that incontinent resident was assigned to you so you didn't change them for 7 hours? And what's almost worse, they think the "I forgot" excuse is a legitimate one.
"When can I do my case??!!"
This is often said by a surgeon who can't seem to grasp the concept that there are only 2 of us(a nurse and a tech) and we're still working on a different patient. Nagging me has a strange effect, it slows me right down.(obviously, if there is a true emergency, I can haul butt with the best of them)
