Hey ya'll!

I am new to allnurses and just was curious what everyones usernames mean. I know there are previous thread for this but I figured there have been some username changes and new members since then.

As you can see my username is Flightless and its just short for flightless bird AKA penguin which are my favorite animal lol I had a hard time trying to pick a username that was unique but didn't give me away! Haha!

So lets hear it!

Your nephew is 223 yrs old?

The age I went back to college (22), and my nephew's age (3). My mistake!

Specializes in Adult MICU/SICU.

When I first signed on to allnurses.com in 2013 I had been out of Nursing for 9 years due to a severe chronic health condition, and on medical disability retirement. I was an "orphan" to nursing at the time - belonging no where any more.

Now I've been back to work as an RN for over 2 years, working at the greatest nursing job I've ever had. The only job that trumped this one was the volunteer job I worked at while gathering enough hours to keep my nursing license. It was with my PCP: an "old school" MD who had some of his pt's for over 40 years, and who never used computer charting. If I was too sick to go to his office I bet he would have come to my house to see me. Best job ever, for the best boss ever - and I earned nothing while doing it. He passed away in 2012 - so I guess I became an orphan for a 2nd time before finally getting better enough health wise to return to nursing.

I never thought to change my user name because that's where I was at the time when I made it, and it fit. Now if I had to make a user name it may likely be: Telephone Triage RN, I Love Telephone Triage Nursing - or maybe Tryranosaurus Nurse! :)

Specializes in Public Health, TB.

I think Allnurses generated my name: profession+first initial+day of the month that is my birthday.

I would change it, but I think it cost $$ and I'm cheap.

Specializes in Med-surg, school nursing..

Sully is my favorite monster, and also the character name of a super hot dude on an old TV show (Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman), so I liked you even before I liked you.

Judging from comments over the years, I'm pretty sure everybody says it Can-ee. I think a lot of people thought I was Canadian for years!

Yeah, I definitely thought you were Canadian. :)

And even now that I know the correct pronunciation I still say can-ee. Gah!

Specializes in ED, School Nurse.

Mine is because I went to Ohio University for college #1 (there's #s 2, 3, 4 and 5 as well) and their mascot is a bobcat.

I read canigraduate is cani-graduate and assumed you graduated from Canisius College in NY.

I also used to read sharpeimom (where is she?) as Sharpie Mom and thought she really liked Sharpie markers and was a mom.

I played flute in 4th grade. I can still rock out "Mary Had a Little Lamb" if you put a flute in my hand. I was and still am a chorus geek.

My kids are all band geeks. Oldest daughter plays all the saxophones and actually started out majoring in music in college, then switched to poli-sci with a minor in legal studies. Middle child plays trombone and bass guitar. Youngest plays percussion. All 3 were/are in marching band.

Not Manny...Manley. That's what she called him when she was crushing on him and Nellie Oleson was trying to sink her talons into him.

And did anyone else get really creeped out when Mary's baby died in the fire and Mary's mind went bye-bye for awhile??

Got creeped out when Laura's little baby brother died and she went up the mountain and got taken care of by her angel.

Yeah, I definitely thought you were Canadian. :)

And even now that I know the correct pronunciation I still say can-ee. Gah!

**Snort**

Nope, not Canadian. Former trailer trash from the South. I was the first person in my family to graduate college and one of the few without a GED. I was also the first person in my family to make it to 20 without being a parent and/or married. I tried to set a good example for my generation. :lol2:

Mine is referring to my hubby, who used to play World of Warcraft, and he was very well known and a very good player in that game. Every username he's ever used has some derivative of the word fire in it. I figured in any online arena, I could collect some cred by claiming my title that way. He has got me into a couple of games; Destiny and The Division. We play them when I have breaks from semesters. He no longer plays WoW, but is very proud of his time doing it, and how his group (or faction, or whatever) had to be "dis-banned" by Blizzard Entertainment. lol...

Specializes in SICU, trauma, neuro.
heron is the Great Blue Heron, an elegant and solitary waterbird known colloquially as Old Cranky. When disturbed, she let's out a gawdawful squawk and flaps away.

(Clarinet, first chair )

Flute, first chair...Saxophone swing...piano in jazz band.

That cinematic dreck that was American Pie completely ruined my fondest memories from high school. Band and jazz camps were the highlights of each year.

Hail Mary, full of grace...

I'm KiusLady all over the interwebz.

Since I'm a blogger, utter and complete anonymity isn't the hugest priority for me.

"Kius" (which has been spelled "Ciuss" in the past and "Kai'us" presently) refers to a race of beings I created on their own little world. (Yes, I'm working a book about it all).
