Liking members at AN

Published

Perhaps because I don't mind agreeing to disagree but something I really enjoy here are the times when someone I previously thought was a dope says something I think is smart and they are moved from my imaginary dope to my imaginary sharp list. :)

Throughout my life I strive to keep an open mind so I don't miss something profound. There are some people here I have "known" for years, respect and think I would like to work with and might even enjoy them as a friend. There are others who I wonder how they manage to tie their shoes this morning let alone pass NCLEX but again I continue to keep an open mind and very often I am pleasantly surprised.

Do you change favorite posters here or are you consistent with who you appreciate and who you aren't so thrilled with? Does anyone block members? My curiosity would never allow that, lol.

I've never blocked anyone on any forum I have ever been on. I like to read everything. If in the middle of it, it starts to go way away from what I think is productive/funny/whatever the thread may be, I just skip it. I value a lot of peoples opinions but I don't tend to agree with a lot of them and thats ok.

Then there are those professionally articulate posts I wish I'd written. Wouldn't want to block those posters or else how could I plagerize (err. . . . LEARN) from them?

I know right? I haven't had an original idea in decades. If I ever say something bright trust me it was stolen, lol.

Jeez, Red, if you don't like me, you could just come out and say it.

Well, I'll say the opposite and I LIKE you!

I do like that I was "allowed" to join the COB society...add me as one who enjoys any COB post. ;)

I enjoy thoughtful, informative and honest posts from The Commuter.

There are people that have broken the fourth wall and have reached out to me...it's a humbling experience because what I post is how I think and respond; I'm not a persona, and my siggy line is what I truly take to heart, which wakes it no reason to block people, and only makes me "like" a post, even if I disagree with it.

I have never blocked anyone, but was tempted once. I'm glad I waited as I have seen that person really improve and grow as a professional over the years. I do not expect everyone to like my opinions and in fact I am sure I have pushed buttons before. I try to keep in mind we all have bad days and some just not as perfect as I (teasing of course). I try to talk to others on here very similar to how I would in person. I just don't have the time or energy to be "fake". I can also agree to disagree on many topics.. others I am just too darn passionate about so I try to stay off of posts that deal with them. I get tired of beating a dead horse sometimes. I am so glad I stumbled across this page all of those years ago. It has been a great source for entertainment and learning.

If there is ever a convention for AN members, we're having margaritas!

I LOVELOVELOVE the goofy threads that get started almost by accident and make me sit here and snort milk on my keyboard (I don't actually DRINK green tea; I can't tolerate caffeine so I have to get my antioxidants elsewhere); if I had any criticism I'd say that I wish they hadn't been stopped. Search out "mockery of nursing" if you have a few days to chortle and guffaw. It stopped growing but it lives on, like a mycelium. I hope it will return to full, fruiting body-hood again someday.

For those curious about the Mockery of Nursing Thread, I had it bookmarked. Here's the link. Read on! lol

Good times, good times. Sigh...

I've never blocked any one. I'm not incredibly active here even though I've been here for a while. But I usually check in every other day or so. Often times I mentally, emotionally react to some one. There are many people who will post and initially I'll have a fiery response... But I learned long ago that if I feel really strongly about some ones (perceived by me) stupidity... I'm better off to ignore it. Prevents me from looking stupid myself.

There are many posters here who I appreciate, look up to, and value their opinion. Most of them probably don't even know it because I'm not some one who posts often... but they're out there!

Oh, girl.... I am cray cray on margaritas! Like, fun cray cray, not the "bring a syringe of haldol just in case" cray cray.

Well, I think I'm fun. Maybe bring the syringe just in case. I'll take my margaritas with a massive amount of salt and on the rocks. :)

I enjoy lots of people here including: Jules A, NedRN, GrnTea, BostonFNP, nicuguy, TheCommuter, icuRNmaggie, PMFB-RN, babyNP, FlyingScot, NOADLS (I think he's funny), Esme12 of course, and many more

I like so many of their posts it probably bugs them ;)

Speaking of Esme any updates???

I don't block anybody because we're not all going to get along all the time, and that's okay. Usually if people grate on me it's because I have strong convictions about something and they have strong convictions about the opposite point of view, but often they end up being the coolest people ever on other subjects. It would be a shame to block somebody just because you disagree with one of their points of view. We are all multifaceted and have lots of different beliefs about lots of different things. I think if you look hard enough, you can find common ground with absolutely anybody on the planet - including that allnurses member that posted a comment that you don't like a few days ago.
