Just wondering how frustrated I should be at this point? Is it normal to not get any bite at all after one or two months?

I applied to every facility that I could find (even those with poor reputations) and finally got a job after three months...at one of the facilities that had a poor reputation!

Selene, did you stay at the facility for a long time? Did you find it to be a good learning experience ?
I stayed at that facility for almost three years. It was a learning experience--I wouldn't categorize it as a "good learning experience." But I did learn about what kind of nurse I wanted to be and what kind of facility I wanted to work at the next time around... :)

I already worked in the hospital as a SPN. I just wrote LPN instead of SPN.

I graduated in December 2007, passed my boards and had a job within a couple weeks of passing boards.. I think I started working January 7 or 15.. but not sure which. First interview, first job. This was in 06-07

Granted I didn't necessarily look "hard". Graduated July, passed NCLEX in August, received license 6 weeks later (unlike some states you can have an ATT, pass the NCLEX, then still not be granted a license as ATT is granted upon confirmation of education but license is granted after passing NCLEX and background clearance...other states complete all background and eduction checks before issuing AT&T so pass and get license). So licensed in September. Started sending out resumes once I graduated, had a few interviews after sending out tons if applications and resume. Theoretically I think I was offered a job in September (long story) but received my current job on the spot after an interview in November. As my current job doesn't have full benefits I've still been applying for FT jobs (current employer is aware). I have an interview now, but awaiting for it to be rescheduled yet again. Don't get discouraged. Try some of the home health agencies that do shift work as opposed to episodic care, such as one of the pediatric home health agencies. Some will hire new grads and offer decent training programs. You then get to become n expert on one or two patients while developing pertinent clinical and assessment skills.

Mass hiring of entry employees usually coincides with the that companies fiscal calender. The first or second week of every new quarter.
I passed my PN-NCLEX; went out of town for nine days, had two interviews and awaiting background screens to done.

It took me about 2 weeks after I received my license... I started to apply to places right after I graduated and took my boards but didn't hear anything back. Once I was licensed, however, I got 4 interviews right off the bat and got hired at 3 of the 4 jobs. I worked as a CNA and Home health aide for 5 years so I had some patient care experience..

1 month.. I passed boards in march, didn't receive my license until April, I was working by the end of May 2009 in LTC. It wasn't the greatest place to work but most jobs were asking for 1-2 years experience.. So during my wait to get experience while working, I went back to finished RN pre-reqs and I continued to look for other jobs. I received a hospice job 1 year later and I still kept both jobs and school.. I quit after 2.5 years after going from nights to prn to weekends, I pray that I don't have to work in a place like that again.
