Houston Nurse Residency Summer 2021 Applicants

I wanted to start a new thread for those of us applying to Houston new grad nurse residency programs to ask questions and share information.

I am brand new to this site so I hope I'm doing this correctly... Good luck everyone!

Hey!! I have Methodist, memorial hermann, and MD Anderson as my top choices... does anybody know if Texas Children’s will resume hiring new graduates for our cohort?

I have a bit of a GPA dilemma if anyone knows what I can do about this and how much it will effect me please let me know!

My nursing GPA is a 3.2 but my cumulative including grades from a previous degree is a 2.9.... The cumulative one is what shows up on an official transcript. How might I go about only submitting my nursing GPA?

I called and spoke to someone in HR earlier this week and they are only accepting internal applicants for their new grad residency program ?

I’m planning to apply to Memorial Hermann, Houston Methodist, HCA, Texas Children’s (until I seen someone post that they are only accepting internal candidates) that makes me sad! I’m considering NICU, what specialties are you interested in? Good Luck!

Not sure. They haven’t released application dates.

My passions are pediatric oncology (I work as a nurse tech on a heme/onc floor at children’s hospital in New Orleans. If I’m gonna be with adults, definitely ER!

Hey everyone! I'm hoping to apply to MD Anderson and Houston Methodist! I was SO set on Texas Children's until I saw a previous post about them not accepting external applicants.. so sad! I'm very interested in ICU settings! I'm a student tech on a peds hem/oc floor in Mississippi, and I love that too!
