Help Pls...ca Nclex Passer Without Ssn

Published

Hi there.. I hope someone could enlighten me with this..

I recently passed the NCLEX RN CA and will be taking the IELTS real soon. I'm in the Philippines and I don't have an SSN. Thus, I was informed that they cannot issue me my license. Add to that, they would destroy my file 3 years without their receipt of my SSN.

I don't have any idea on what to do next. How do I get this SSN? Am aware that they cannot issue me SSN since I'm not a US citizen nor have I ways to go there. Should I just find an agency to do all the works for me or should I apply for my visa screen? Cause I was thinking of applying for my visa screen first before I find my agency plus I will be starting work only only next month.

Can someone tell me the process of how to get a visa screen? The steps and who to contact, through the internet perhaps. I really have no idea how to do it.

Another thing is my family's suggesting to transfer my license to another state..Again, how do I go about it? Is my license needed before I can apply for reciprocity..I was thinking maybe NY, Florida or Chicago.

I'm sorry I have too many questions..I hope many could reply to my queries. Thanks in advance

hi im also a ca nlcex passer w/o ssn, but my friends here in ca. told me that if I submit an Itin to the BRN they will issue our permanent license..I haven't tried it yet, does any one know if this is true? thanks!

What they did was falsify their ss# because they didn't have one. Is it something that I recommend one doing? NO WAY, what if you get caught. What do you think will happen? Either way you can't work with out a valid ss# and if you submit your Itin to an employer as your ss# you will get caught!

Some states will issue a license with out a ss#, but they wont renew it with out one either.

you mean if you have a pending petition you can renew your license even without ssn? i also passed the ca-nclex, and im having trouble of getting my license, somebody told me i should get an itin and thats enough to get my permanent license

No that's not enough to get a permanent license because it's NOT a ss#. What the application states is to provide a ss# NOT an ITIN. What you're wanting to do is to falsify information on your application and if you're caught, you might lose your license because of fraudulent information. People who are caught providing fraudulent information will have their name posted on the CA BRN website for the whole public to see. Do a search on the CA BRN and you will find such list. I'd hate to see your name on there and not ever able to get a license in CA.

CA actually gives you three years to present the SSN#, not two years. The two years that you are speaking about is for someone that went and gave the BRN the ITIN# that does not permit one to work in the US. That means that they were issued a license, but the license expires in two years and they cannot renew it without the SSN# so they have lost an extra year that they had as well.

wait... so you can apply with ITIN and receive a license? just only for two years?

no itn does not equal ssn.

No you can't apply for licensure using ITIN number in place of a SS#. What the others have done is falsify their information in order to obtain a license. Reread what I wrote in the above post. Also, if you want the most definate answer contact CA BRN and ask them if you can use a ITIN number in place of a ss#, they will tell you no.

No, you can't -- the NCLEX is one part of the process of applying for licensure (in a particular state). After you've submitted your application and required paperwork, the state to which you're applying authorizes you to be able to write the exam. There's no such thing as just taking the NCLEX by itself, without having applied for licensure somewhere in the US.

if this is the case with the ssn#, how come there are lot of nurses still applying for CA licensure? what advantage does it have from all the other states?

Because CA do their own assessment. However many states now require you to still meet their requirements even if you have a license in another state which in turn costs more money. Retrogression has had the biggest impact now as it has gone on since Oct 06, longer than some people expected

Hi silverdragon, ive been reading these kind of posts lately coz im a new nclex passer, unfortunately, my state was california and im a foreign graduate, from the philippines, im already aware that i cannot apply for endorsement coz i dont have a SSN or an existing license, i want to prevent my result from expiring, the previous posts so far were talking about applying to another state, im confused what it means exactly, are we talkin about applying for licensure? or applying for NCLEX again? and how exactly can we make the Cali BON to forward my result to that particular state im applyin for? calling them or writing a request of some sort? has anybody ever tried and got thru this kind of situation? i jst wana know to the best of your knowledge, i may have skipped other posts about this matter, im sorry this has become redundant...
