Hi TeeCee That was a different user that replied to you. You can apply to most specialties and you would have a good shot depending on your resume. Pay is 22-23 like other person stated. Living cost is a bit high, housing won't be hard to find but they are not exactly cheap either. You won't save a ton of money but it is a great hospital to gain some experience and start your career. I endorsed it first but you'll be fine applying without endorsement. It really doesn't take that long to get it endorsed, ND is a very small state so the process is fairly quick. It's a big decision but if you really need to the experience like I did, I still recommend it. It can be a tough transition though given the weather and the cultural changes.

Hi everyone, My name is Eli, I am working in the ICU right now and hoping to apply for CRNA school. I am a bit cautious because of obamacare and the economy. I love the ICU and I love nursing but I would love the challenges of being a CRNA as well. I just think it'd be fun. But I don't want to borrow so much money and get in debt to go to school and graduate and be in a tough spot. I really want to stay in the bay area (CA) and get a job there. I am currently in North Dakota for my ICU job because I couldn't find a job in San Jose. I would rather not repeat this experience and try my best to find a CRNA job in the bay area if I do apply. So my question is for Samuel Merritt graduates. The website as well as the recruiter for the school boast of high hiring rate in the bay area. Is this true? Do most of the Samuel Merritt graduates find jobs in the bay area? I feel like doing clinical and building relationships in the area helps you with the job offers. If I went to a different school in the midwest, I feel that I may not have as good of a chance of getting hired in the bay area. I think going to Samuel Merritt because of it's relationship with the hospitals and clinical exp would help me land a job in the bay area... Is this true or am I going off the map here? I would love to hear more from CRNAs in the area who are practicing and how they feel about the job market and the impending doom? of obamacare.

Try Scott and White Memorial Hospital in Temple Texas, a lot of my friends got a job there as a new grad. I applied but they transferred my application to the ICU and the ICU weren't hiring So i didn't get hired there but I applied to North Dakota and got a job :)

Hey guys, What kind of plan/ strategy do you have for finding new grad nursing jobs? I've been googling and applying online but getting almost immediate rejections. Should I call them first before applying? I feel like calling bunch of HRs is more effective than just blindly applying online.... I am applying out of state to Texas. I live in CA but obviously nothing here x.x

I would choose ICU in a heartbeat! I am a new grad looking for ICU or med surg position as well but my heart and passion is def ICU. Where did you get these offers? I am a bit jealous I am applying everywhere and waiting desperately for a position!

Ideally, I would like to do a two years of ICU at a teaching hospital in ND before moving back to California. Can you tell me some names of the hospitals (esp teaching) that I can apply for? Probably in Fargo and Bismarck area where housing is reasonable :) Thank you so much! p.s. I get the missing home part, I am in California trying to move out because of the job market Hang in there, just two more years :)

I hear North Dakota is hiring even though the housing may be tough. Is this true? If so which hospital? Do you think a large hospital will hire me as a new grad into the ICU or Med Surg? I have a BSN but it's been two years since I've had clinical experience (ICU). I have an internship coming up in January but I am hoping to find a job before that or have a job lined up after the internship. I applied to 15 hospitals in Texas so far and got one interview and two call backs. Interview didn't go anywhere and the two hospitals haven't called me back. I am starting to get desperate here and the job search was even tougher than I imagined. HELP!!!!!!!!!! I am willing to go anywhere in the country.

I feel ya! It's been two years for me since graduation but I couldn't apply for jobs since I didn't have a work permit. I now have a work permit and can apply for jobs. However, since it's been two years lot of hospitals are reluctant to hire me. I do have an internship in January for a month but I am hoping to find a job before that. Hang in there! I am very interested in working in rural area as well. I am a new grad in CA and it's been two years since I graduated. So I am a bit desperate as I am at the end of my shelf life. ND would be so tough due to housing tho, i would have to spend so much money on rent/ housing... marco, do u mind me asking where in california u got the job? I tried doing your method in Oregon and Colorado but it looks like they are not really hiring new grads. I guess I should stick to Texas? I am gonna try applying to that hospital in nevada too. I think I wanna call before i apply online. It feels so pointless applying online application after another. If I can at least talk to a recruiter I can assess my chance before applying. Some of these apps take a while...

it's a great idea, even if new grad nurses just gathered and did job searches and filled out apps together, it'd be helpful. I would love to!
