New Grad Jobs in North Dakota?
Hi TeeCee That was a different user that replied to you. You can apply to most specialties and you would have a good shot depending on your resume. Pay is 22-23 like other person stated. Living cost is a bit high, housing won't be hard to find but they are not exactly cheap either. You won't save a ton of money but it is a great hospital to gain some experience and start your career. I endorsed it first but you'll be fine applying without endorsement. It really doesn't take that long to get it endorsed, ND is a very small state so the process is fairly quick. It's a big decision but if you really need to the experience like I did, I still recommend it. It can be a tough transition though given the weather and the cultural changes.

Samuel Merritt Job Offers
Hi everyone, My name is Eli, I am working in the ICU right now and hoping to apply for CRNA school. I am a bit cautious because of obamacare and the economy. I love the ICU and I love nursing but I would love the challenges of being a CRNA as well. I just think it'd be fun. But I don't want to borrow so much money and get in debt to go to school and graduate and be in a tough spot. I really want to stay in the bay area (CA) and get a job there. I am currently in North Dakota for my ICU job because I couldn't find a job in San Jose. I would rather not repeat this experience and try my best to find a CRNA job in the bay area if I do apply. So my question is for Samuel Merritt graduates. The website as well as the recruiter for the school boast of high hiring rate in the bay area. Is this true? Do most of the Samuel Merritt graduates find jobs in the bay area? I feel like doing clinical and building relationships in the area helps you with the job offers. If I went to a different school in the midwest, I feel that I may not have as good of a chance of getting hired in the bay area. I think going to Samuel Merritt because of it's relationship with the hospitals and clinical exp would help me land a job in the bay area... Is this true or am I going off the map here? I would love to hear more from CRNAs in the area who are practicing and how they feel about the job market and the impending doom? of obamacare.

Job Search Strategy
Hey guys, What kind of plan/ strategy do you have for finding new grad nursing jobs? I've been googling and applying online but getting almost immediate rejections. Should I call them first before applying? I feel like calling bunch of HRs is more effective than just blindly applying online.... I am applying out of state to Texas. I live in CA but obviously nothing here x.x

New Grad Jobs in North Dakota?
Hi Kcaudle, Thank you so much for your reply! I didn't realize the opportunity was that great out there. Are teaching hospitals recruiting too and would they hire a new grad into the ICU? Ideally, I would like to do a two years of ICU at a teaching hospital in ND before moving back to California. Can you tell me some names of the hospitals (esp teaching) that I can apply for? Probably in Fargo and Bismarck area where housing is reasonable :) Thank you so much! p.s. I get the missing home part, I am in California trying to move out because of the job market Hang in there, just two more years :)

New Grad Jobs in North Dakota?
I hear North Dakota is hiring even though the housing may be tough. Is this true? If so which hospital? Do you think a large hospital will hire me as a new grad into the ICU or Med Surg? I have a BSN but it's been two years since I've had clinical experience (ICU). I have an internship coming up in January but I am hoping to find a job before that or have a job lined up after the internship. I applied to 15 hospitals in Texas so far and got one interview and two call backs. Interview didn't go anywhere and the two hospitals haven't called me back. I am starting to get desperate here and the job search was even tougher than I imagined. HELP!!!!!!!!!! I am willing to go anywhere in the country.

New grad trying hard not to give up...
I feel ya! It's been two years for me since graduation but I couldn't apply for jobs since I didn't have a work permit. I now have a work permit and can apply for jobs. However, since it's been two years lot of hospitals are reluctant to hire me. I do have an internship in January for a month but I am hoping to find a job before that. Hang in there! You are still fresh and considered a new grad, apply everywhere, make goals each day! I am def applying for rural areas too... does anyone know any good areas or hospitals that hire new grads? I've been targeting Texas mainly...

how do i find a rural nursing job?
I am very interested in working in rural area as well. I am a new grad in CA and it's been two years since I graduated. So I am a bit desperate as I am at the end of my shelf life. ND would be so tough due to housing tho, i would have to spend so much money on rent/ housing... marco, do u mind me asking where in california u got the job? I tried doing your method in Oregon and Colorado but it looks like they are not really hiring new grads. I guess I should stick to Texas? I am gonna try applying to that hospital in nevada too. I think I wanna call before i apply online. It feels so pointless applying online application after another. If I can at least talk to a recruiter I can assess my chance before applying. Some of these apps take a while...

Unemployed New Grad Support Group
it's a great idea, even if new grad nurses just gathered and did job searches and filled out apps together, it'd be helpful. I would love to!

New Grad RN's in San Antonio
I am a new grad looking for a position in Texas as well. Can I also have the email to the recruiter? I would love to apply there. Since you've been there for a year, how do you like the hospital so far? Thank you!

California RN Reciprocity!!!
Hi Everyone, I need to apply for Reciprocity in California, I currently have a Maryland License. I know that you can do a "walk through" if you go to the board in Sacramento as long as you do the live scan two weeks before. Has anyone tried this recently? How long did it take for you? I know that you have to request transcripts from the schools, do you have to wait for this too or will you receive your temp license as long as you got your finger prints and NURSYS check completed?

exam cram
I used it and it wasn't bad. The questions weren't as great as the Kaplan Q Bank questions but they were still knowledge level questions that made me realize that I need to review my stuff. I used this one as well as the Saunder's Review and did lot of my friend's Qbank questions. Qbank was by far the most helpful but Exam cram isn't bad, I love their cheat sheet of lab values in the front of the book as well.

I want to be a Health Coach, RN!
Hi everyone! I am a registered nurse in California and I want to start my own Health Coach business. I was wondering if any nurses out there are health coaches. There are some schools and training programs but most of them are weak and shady... esp in science. I feel like nursing school and my license as a nurse has prepared me to already become a health coach... any thoughts on that? Should I get more schooling or do you think it's enough that we are nurses? how would you go about becoming a health coach in helping people lose weight and change their lifestyle?

fast accelerated RN to BSN online program?
Is there an online RN TO BSN course that I can do in 5-9 months depending on how many classes I can cram in? I have heard that before... but I am only finding ones that are 15 months long at best. I would like to find one where I can cram lot of classes at once...

Australia versus New Zealand
absolutely... I am a Christian, sanctity of marriage means a lot to me. As far as the education goes, it looks like I am going to try to continue my education in California by doing a bridge program from my community college to a BSN program. After I graduate with a BSN and no immigration law has passed, I will have to go to Korea and be a medic or a nurse in the Korean army (they have mandatory conscription). It shouldn't be too hard to find a job once I am out of the army since I have a BSN and I am fluent in English. I just have to get better at Korean and try to pass the Korean NCLEX or their equivalent test form. Apparently medical tourism is the new thing in Korea and a lot of Japanese, Chinese, and Americans are going to Korea for surgeries, especially dental and plastic surgery. The demand for a nurse who's fluent in English should be pretty high. Hopefully that will workout and I will get some experience as a nurse. At that point I can either continue being a nurse in Korea or try to immigrate to another English speaking country like Australia or New Zealand. Canada is kinda cold for a Californian like me lol. Maybe I can even work for an American medical company selling medical equipments in Korea since they prefer RNs as their sales rep and maybe because I happen to be Korean, fluent, and educated RN from the states, I can have some advantages as a sales rep for their company. Who knows, I will keep praying and see where God leads me.

Australia versus New Zealand
that's most likely what I am going to do... problem is if no law passes it will be tough immigrating due to lack of experience... I will have to get that experience one way or another. Plus In two years I will have to go to the Korean army for their mandatory draft (conscription) so that will shave 2 years off, hopefully I can enlist as a medic or something so I can keep my knowledge current. and get some experience in Korea as a nurse then immigrate.

police report would be from Korea... overstaying visa is not a crime but a civil disobedience, not in the criminal record unless I get deported. I have cleared it with a lawyer, my overstayed visa presence here does not affect immigrating to another country since I am applying from Korea not U.S. I would have to go back to Korea first then apply to another country, my status in U.S. has nothing to do with it. This is a fact... it's a different country... overstaying a visa isn't an issue to another country... especially in my case when I GREW UP HERE. Don't you get it? I grew up here since I was sixth grade? I could be your classmate, your next door neighbor, your childhood friend and you would never even know it! Shoot, most of us didn't even know we were "illegal" till our parents told us when we turned 18. It's not even our fault... have some mercy people. By a stroke of luck you could be in my shoes, just because of the parents that you have. I have a flipping 3.9 gpa in my college and worked my butt off and I work and PAY TAXES. I worked harder than any of my friends just to be where I am today, wiping tables at restaurants and studying all day and night for nursing school. You could have been in my shoes... if you just happened to be born to a wrong parents... would you have gone back and left the country that you grew up in and called "home?" Gone back to what? Country you haven't been in for a decade since you were a child and have no future in? Haha... go back... easy for you to say...

Help Pls...ca Nclex Passer Without Ssn
wait... so you can apply with ITIN and receive a license? just only for two years?

Australia versus New Zealand
nope, my status here in the U.S. does not affect my chance of immigrating else where, already confirmed with lawyers, etc. Deportation will affect me but not if I leave voluntarily. there is no "returning..." Even after 10 year ban they won't let me back in, it's not likely. My best chance is to wait and see if this law is going to pass next year. Leaving right now before the law even comes up to be voted would be foolish. There's a 50/50 chance that comprehensive immigration may pass. On top of that, I can technically get sponsored, my application for legal status is pending, so I am not 100 percent illegal, I am in a legal limbo where I am stuck as a pending visa status... It's not as easy as just leaving, that may be YOUR opinion but that is definitely not the best option for my future. I would appreciate it if you reserve your own judgment and opinion... I am simply asking for some information and facts about the possibility of immigrating to another country.

Australia versus New Zealand
there's a program in University of Health Science of Oregon, it's a online course so I can stay in California and still do it online. Linfield also has one online and they are all roughly 420dollar per credit. Here is my question though Promin1... why should I get a BSN here in U.S. if I can get it in Canada or New Zealand? My BSN is only good here in the states... If I take that BSN to another country, it is still useless because I have no experience as a nurse... On the other hand if I can manage to transfer to a school in Canada and get a BSN... I can probably get sponsored for a work visa since they are in dire need of nurses... so why should I stay and get a BSN here in U.S.?
