Hi there.. I hope someone could enlighten me with this..
I recently passed the NCLEX RN CA and will be taking the IELTS real soon. I'm in the Philippines and I don't have an SSN. Thus, I was informed that they cannot issue me my license. Add to that, they would destroy my file 3 years without their receipt of my SSN.
I don't have any idea on what to do next. How do I get this SSN? Am aware that they cannot issue me SSN since I'm not a US citizen nor have I ways to go there. Should I just find an agency to do all the works for me or should I apply for my visa screen? Cause I was thinking of applying for my visa screen first before I find my agency plus I will be starting work only only next month.
Can someone tell me the process of how to get a visa screen? The steps and who to contact, through the internet perhaps. I really have no idea how to do it.
Another thing is my family's suggesting to transfer my license to another state..Again, how do I go about it? Is my license needed before I can apply for reciprocity..I was thinking maybe NY, Florida or Chicago.
I'm sorry I have too many questions..I hope many could reply to my queries. Thanks in advance
All you're doing is forwarding your results to Vermont to save your NCLEX results from being destroyed. Vermont will issue you a license with out a ss# but they may require a ss# for renewal. I'm unsure of this but keep that in mind. As long as you do everything correctly then you should be alright by having your results forwarded to Vermont. Unsure how things are done in your home country but here in the US when you have a license you must continue to educate yourselves by acquiring CEUs. There are many places that offer CEUs and some BRNs have on their website a list of accredited places that offer CEUs, it's best to go through one of those schools. Those schools usually charge a fee for CEUs. Good Luck
If you have any questions regarding anything regarding licensure should be directed to the CA BRN or Vermont BRN. You can email them but it's always a hit or miss, if you don't get a response within a couple of weeks I would email them again. If you want to call them you can call them too but they do have a high volume of calls and the wait time is horrendous. Also keep in mind that in CA the BRN is closed at least one Friday of the month due to budget cuts and I'm unsure which Friday it is. Good Luck
thanks for your post nursecubanitarn2b, i think ill do both, email and call. i wonder if maryland offers nclex pass endorsement? any of you guys know?
You may want to check up on Maryland and see if they will issue a license with out a ss#. http://www.mbon.org/main.php There's the link to the BRN of Maryland. Good Luck

You can not get a SSN until in the US with a valid work/immigrant visa. No agency can assist you with getting one. Much has already been written about CA and SSN so suggest a search and read.
I would hold off from applying for vsc as vsc has a 5 year expiry date on it and with current retrogression you are looking at a bit longer than 5 years at the moment (may change but can easily apply for it before your IELTS expire)
hello but how lizziecalpito have passed the nclex and don"t have ielts yet I applyed for Illinois registered nurse and required me first to take toefl not nclexwhy is it so?can I first take nclex exam because I am preparing for it
Each state is different and not all require English exam prior to sitting the exam
HI! I'm a California NCLEX passer intending to transfer my exam result to other states. I’m from the Philippines and I want to know where I can transfer my exam results without having CGFNS or CES report? which state does not require a SSN and clinical practice hours upon renewal of license? I contacted the different BON/BRN regarding this but most of them don't reply and some of them require SSN and CES report. I already read the other threads and I cannot find the answer on this. Thank you very much.
