Help Pls...ca Nclex Passer Without Ssn

Published

Hi there.. I hope someone could enlighten me with this..

I recently passed the NCLEX RN CA and will be taking the IELTS real soon. I'm in the Philippines and I don't have an SSN. Thus, I was informed that they cannot issue me my license. Add to that, they would destroy my file 3 years without their receipt of my SSN.

I don't have any idea on what to do next. How do I get this SSN? Am aware that they cannot issue me SSN since I'm not a US citizen nor have I ways to go there. Should I just find an agency to do all the works for me or should I apply for my visa screen? Cause I was thinking of applying for my visa screen first before I find my agency plus I will be starting work only only next month.

Can someone tell me the process of how to get a visa screen? The steps and who to contact, through the internet perhaps. I really have no idea how to do it.

Another thing is my family's suggesting to transfer my license to another state..Again, how do I go about it? Is my license needed before I can apply for reciprocity..I was thinking maybe NY, Florida or Chicago.

I'm sorry I have too many questions..I hope many could reply to my queries. Thanks in advance

hi, im from the philippines, my husband and i passed the ca nclex-rn last december and now we are here in california. we already talked to an employer and is asking us if we already have license. we said we already passed the nclex and license will be given once we are able to present an ssn.

we also went to SSA and is applying for a SSn and presented the letter we received from BON... the officer said that that we should be staying in us for 2 weeks before we can be issued a number so we'll be back on monday. the ssn that will be given is not for work.

my question is what are our chances of getting a ssn?

also is there anyway that our petition be filed even if we still don't have the license yet and just have the letter from BON saying that we passed nclex-rn?

thanks

Do you have a work visa? I don't think you have and without proof that you are in the US with a valid work visa then I doubt you will get a SSN. You also can not AOS so plan on returning home whilst waiting for a visa and expect to be affected by retrogression and a very long wait

To jbc76,

I think you need to mail the License Analyst of Ca BON.. Or just mail POST MAIL to the California BON

Hi every one!...........

i want to ask few questions from u guys.............

The only way to find out is ring the hospitals you're interested in.

Just out of curiosity, why did you apply in California when you are in Washington???

Also remember not all hospitals are uncapped so even if you find a hospital for H1b then you are looking at waiting until next April.

Thanks for ur reply 5cats and silverdragon102 :thankya:

one more thing i would like to know: is visa screen also required for H1B?

5cats i would like to answer ur question why i applied for ca board is that it doesnt require CGFNS and and the application process is fairly simple.

How ever when applying to another state you may still need CGFNS CES. I did when I endorsed to Arizona so not always a short cut.

Yes for H1b you need VSC

I too am a California NCLEX passer without an SSN. My questions are:

1. What states would issue a license without SSN? I only know of VT and NM, but are there others?

2. I'm interested to obtain a license in NY. Does NY require SSN before they issue a license?

3. If No, how do I got about applying for licensure? I understand I would have to ask California BRN to forward my NCLEX results, but is that all I have to do? This is what's written in the NY app packet, and my understanding is that I'll just have to ask CA BRN to forward my credentials.

VERIFYING YOUR APPLICATION CREDENTIALS

To ensure authenticity of credentials, the New York State Education Department's Office of the Professions requires evidence of your compliance with each licensure requirement directly from the organization where you met the requirement (e.g., school, testing agency, licensing authority, certifying board, hospital, employer, etc.). These records and documents must bear an original (not photocopied) signature of the official who maintains the records and stamp or seal of the institution where the credentials are maintained.

Does this mean I would ask CA BRN to forward my results as well as my other requirements (like transcripts, etc.)? Do I need to take CGFNS or no need, since I already passed NCLEX and the rest of my credentials will be forwarded?

4. Lastly, if I ask CA to forward my credentials to NY, will I lose my application in CA?

Thanks.

For NY you would have to complete CVS and this is regardless on whether you have passed NCLEX in another state. Ca will not forward your transcripts you have to complete the paperwork on the CGFNS website and make payment and they will write to the relevant places you received your education and request new copies of transcripts etc. You will also have to submit an application to NY BON and for most sit 2 online courses. Ca will destroy your application after 3 years if you do not provide them with a SSN or ask for a extension. More and more states are now not issuing a license without a SSN however they will not destroy your file like CA does so once you are in the US and have a valid work/immigrant visa and apply for a SSN you can sort out a license with the BON/BRN

hi im also a ca nlcex passer w/o ssn, but my friends here in ca. told me that if I submit an Itin to the BRN they will issue our permanent license..I haven't tried it yet, does any one know if this is true? thanks!

you mean if you have a pending petition you can renew your license even without ssn? i also passed the ca-nclex, and im having trouble of getting my license, somebody told me i should get an itin and thats enough to get my permanent license
